Oil heaters test. The best heaters: Are you warm or cold? Highest efficiency

Used to heat rooms and maintain the required temperature, make it pleasant and comfortable microclimate rooms.

Such devices are safe, since their heating elements are closed, and the case itself heats up only to 60 degrees. they can work for three days, they do not make noise and do not take up much space.

The devices cool slowly, so they continue to heat up the room even after shutdown, which helps to save energy.

During the operation of the devices, no extraneous odors, dust and fumes are emitted. The devices provide the required level of air humidity in the room. Democratic prices are set for such models.

When choosing oil heaters you should pay attention to the design features, dimensions and weight of the devices. It is important that the models are powerful yet cost effective.

Technical safety and environmental friendliness must be at the highest level.

How to choose an oil heater

  • Buy models that fit the room in size, take into account the dimensions of the room. Better to allocate a place in advance for. Do not buy products that are too light, as a rule, they are made of low-quality metal.
  • Pay attention to the indicator of the working area of the heater. For rooms with an area of 15 sq. m. a device with a power of 1500 W will be enough. For windows and external walls is 0.2 kW each.
  • The body material must be durable, wear-resistant, not subject to mechanical damage.
  • For large rooms, it is better to choose heaters with a power of 2000 watts. Heat a room with an area of more than 30 sq. m. one device will not work.

  • The efficiency of the device depends on the power of the radiator. But it should be remembered about the economy of the device: the higher the power, the more electricity the heater will require.
  • Be sure to plug the device into the mains, it should work silently.
  • Consider the environmental friendliness of the device. Do not buy large appliances for heating small rooms, they burn air, from which the microclimate in the room deteriorates significantly.
  • Pay attention to the functionality of the device. The device should be equipped with light indication, smooth temperature controller, mode switch (2-3), overheating protection.
  • Pay attention to the packaging of the product. It is desirable that the kit includes wheels that allow you to move the structure.

Choose rubberized rollers, they protect the coating from scratches, plastic products are less durable and wear-resistant. Heavy structures should be equipped with a special handle for moving the device.

  • Be sure to consider the correspondence between the technical parameters and the price of the product.

Models with 1-2 sections cost from 500 to 1000 rubles, the second category - radiators with low oil consumption, costing from 1500 to 2000 rubles, the last price category - devices equipped with fans and air humidifiers, which cost 2500-3000 rubles.

  • Look at the technical data sheet of the product, study its parameters and instructions for the device, ask the seller you are interested in. Check the package contents of the product, look at the warranty terms and conditions for obtaining a warranty.

  • Buy devices with a built-in automatic thermostat, almost all modern models are equipped with it. This function contributes to the regulation of the room temperature, allows you to set the level of the required temperature in manual mode.
  • Equipped structures quickly bring the air temperature in a cold room to a predetermined level.
  • Buy models with a timer function that allows you to set the time to turn the device on and off.
  • Pay attention to the length of the cord, it is better if there are several access points of the device to the network. Otherwise, you will have to buy an extension cord.

  • Choose models equipped with a thermostat that allows you to maintain room temperature with an accuracy of 1 degree, saves energy.
  • Buy heaters with that will humidify the air and maintain the required microclimate.
  • The higher the total area of the sections, the longer the device will heat up. Sections that are too wide will cool quickly.
  • It is not recommended to buy devices with a small weight and large dimensions, this may indicate the use of thin metal or a small amount of mineral oil.

  • Choose oil heaters with a dark surface, they transmit heat radiation better. Often the choice of color depends on the style of the room: black appliances do not look good in bedrooms or living rooms with delicate tones.

In this case, focus on your preferences and room design.

  • Choose the shape and design of the product according to your taste in accordance with the general concept of the room.
  • Oil heaters are often equipped with heated towel rails for easy and safe drying of things, they are functional and easy to use.

Do they even let the heaters be checked? I would like to turn it on, warm it up to the peak temperature, then cool it down.
I want to check the maximum temperature, as well as the absence of clicks. And then, as I understand it, there is no guarantee that the heater will not crack, it is very bad that such an important parameter is not indicated in the characteristics.

11 Mar 2012, 20:28

Just turn it on, heat up as you wrote, click the buttons and toggle switches, check the serviceability of all controls. As for the cod, the specification usually does not indicate anything, so how lucky. I think the crackle is due to the weakening of the fortifications of the power electrical units, the crackle of 50 Hz mains. To insure against it, it is better to buy heaters in special stores and only trusted firms. And when buying, be sure to ask the consultants, for sure if there is a crack, then someone has already complained about it before you.

How to test an oil heater when buying from a store?

Crackling comes from improper assembly. If the parts are not assembled in accordance with the regulations, then any surprises can be expected from such a heater, up to and including failure. First turn on the heater at full power immediately, let it warm up. listen to how it works, if there are any sounds, etc. After 20 minutes, turn it off and also listen, if there are no clicks, the certificate and warranty are attached, you can safely take it.

How to test an oil heater when buying from a store?

Once upon a time it is not necessary. It happens that you check, everything seems to work, you buy it. The warranty will pass - the clicks will go at least do something. And the guarantee is already out. It happens that the clicks start after the heater falls, and this is also possible. In general, it is impossible to protect yourself from them 100%.

Follow the advice above.

How to test an oil heater when buying from a store?

In stores, a blockage of these oil batteries, they just run up their eyes. I wonder who will buy them and are all of them high quality? I think it's far from me that some woman came to me - she returned the purchased goods, they say, like it either does not work for you, or another wanted. It seemed that the heater did not work for her. And then if you bring the heater back and say it kind of clicks, will they give the money back?

Is a click more considered an objective reason for a return?

How to test an oil heater when buying from a store?

Recently I found out, there is still an interesting point. The store gives its own guarantee for the heaters, and the manufacturer gives its own. Let's say the store's warranty is 2 months, if a breakdown occurs during this time, the goods can be returned without problems.

How to test an oil heater when buying from a store?

If a breakdown occurs within a year, claims can only be made to the manufacturer, the store does not take part here. Like this.

You are wrong. The factory warranty covers the entire period specified in the technical passport (warranty card) and allows you to make claims for the quality of the goods during this entire period both to the seller and to the manufacturer of this product. That is, you can safely go to the store during the entire warranty period. In case of refusal to accept the goods, you should contact Rospotrebnadzor with a complaint.

I just had to face such a situation ...
According to the manufacturer's warranty, it is written in black and white that a warranty is given for a period of one year, and sellers, filling out the warranty card by hand, write 6 months. In the event of a complaint, employees who must protect the interests of buyers are 100% in the position of sellers ... What do you say you signed your own verdict !!! Signed 6 months, that's all ... And you won't prove anything ...

In addition, in some cases, the warranty workshop does not extend the warranty for the time the equipment is being repaired ... This is a violation ...

How to test an oil heater when buying from a store?

All around there are violations, the demand for consumer goods is not enough for them! The idea is that people are unlikely to go to complain and argue with them if the price of the issue is some inexpensive humidifier, for example, for 1000r or some heavy product that still needs to be brought in, such as a refrigerator. And if a problem arose with an already mounted gas stove - then you yourself understand - dismantling + new connection + delivery. In theory, all this will have to be "hung" on the seller, and this is not easy.

Oil heater Electrolux, convective Scarlett, infrared of the same brand, as well as two fan heaters (Stadler Form Max and Dyson) different designs- we studied these five heat gadgets in detail during testing, checked their heating capabilities.

When it's cold at home, you want it to get warmer as soon as possible - so we checked which of the heaters (for convenience, let's call the entire quintet so) will warm up the air in the room faster. We also inspected the operational features of different models: measured the noise level during operation (those devices for which this is relevant); found out whether the electricity consumption corresponds to the declared characteristics. Of course, we also appreciated the convenience when using each of the five gadgets.

Note that in this test we first of all study the operation of different types of heaters - features of operation, heating speed. But, of course, since the brands are still named, we also inspect specific models at the same time, just a comparison "by brands" is not the main goal, since it is not correct, due to the different types of tested devices. For example, the segments "Pros" and "Cons" are relevant specifically for these models.

Methodology

To test a heater, you need to heat a room with it. This is what we did - we had an office meeting room with an area of 17.2 m² and a volume of 44.7 m³. For each participant in the test, an initial temperature of 21.5 ° C was set, which was supposed to increase in 30 minutes of operation of the tested heater and reach a certain value.

Four heaters that participated in testing (oil-filled Electrolux and Scarlett SC-2167 convector) and fan heaters (traditional Stadler Form Max and bladeless Dyson AM05) have the same maximum power - 2000 W. The Scarlet SC-253 infrared heater had a maximum power of 1,800 W.

All heaters were installed in the same place in the room - on the floor (floor standing is acceptable for all). Each worked for half an hour at maximum power with the same heating intensity. To make the conditions even, we did not activate the auto-rotate function of the case for the Dyson fan heater. The door to the premises was tightly closed, the office climate control system turned off. After 30 minutes, we recorded the temperature level.

Also, with the help of a household wattmeter, we recorded the electricity consumption, and with the help of a sound level meter, the noise during the operation of both fan heaters.

Test drive of the oil heater Electrolux EOH / M-1209

Electrolux EOH / M-1209 is a classic "heating genre". It is an oil-filled (oil-filled) heater with 9 heating sections. The appearance is familiar to such devices: a white-gray color scheme, will fit into any interior, or rather, will imperceptibly dissolve in it, will not be an accent, but this is often what is required from such gadgets.

The principle of operation of an oil heater: inside the heating circuit with the help of a heating element, mineral oil is heated, which gives off heat to the sealed metal case, and the air is already heated from it. Details on the different types of household heating devices -.

The thermostat is electromechanical, the control is the same. It is convenient and familiar to the user - there are 2 rotary controls: heating power and temperature (there is no degree setting, it is adjustable from minimum to maximum level, as is always the case with an electromechanical thermostat). The control panel provides light indication of the selected power level.

The heater is mounted on wheels that are included in the delivery. The manufacturer also focuses on the fact that this is a compact model - it takes about 15% less space than “traditional oil heaters”. We agree that the device does not feel cumbersome during operation. The design provides a handle for easy movement and a place to wind the wire (easy storage). The handle, by the way, is very important, since the metal case heats up quite noticeably during the operation of the device - we did not burn ourselves during testing, but it is not very pleasant to touch.

  • Power levels: 800 W, 1200 W, 2000 W
  • Number of heating sections - 9
  • Maximum heating area - 18 m2
  • overheat protection
  • Roll-over shutdown
  • Cost: 3,000 rubles

Depending on the level of protection against dust and moisture, the heater is safe for installation in bathrooms and is protected from the ingress of even small objects. The highest protection class for such heaters today is IP24. Details about the classes of electrical and dust and moisture protection are in our.

During testing, we did not have any comments on the operation of the Electrolux EOH / M-1209 heater. It is quite convenient to use it, it moves easily on wheels, and also thanks to the handle on the body. The wire wrapped around the holder is not in the way. As for the test results, in 30 minutes this oil heater, which worked on full power, was able to increase the room temperature from 21.5 to about 25 degrees, that is, the air temperature increased by 3.5 degrees. There were no clearly perceptible extraneous odors or noises in the process of heating the room.

Electricity consumption in all three modes was within the manufacturer's specifications. However, it was even slightly smaller. With the first active heating level, we recorded a value of about 750 W (in the characteristics - 800), at the second level –1115 W (1200), and at the third level - 1838 W (2000).

Pros:

  • User-familiar device format
  • Quite convenient operation
  • Simple and intuitive control
  • Highest possible security
  • Quiet operation
  • Compactness
  • Wire winding and storage device

Minuses:

  • Slower air heating compared to other models
  • Uninteresting appearance

Test drive of Scarlett SC-2167 convection heater

The Scarlett SC-2167 convector in the context of its design can also be classified as a classic - like all convective heaters. But in terms of design, it is not quite a classic - the front panel is made of tempered black glass. Not that this is such a rarity today - other manufacturers also have similar models - but nevertheless convectors sold in stores are, for the most part, light colors (shades of white) and with a metal front panel. Not so here - black glass gives the model a kind of glamor. Or it just makes it look like a flat screen TV - choose which approach you like best. More heaters with interesting designs -.

The principle of operation of a convection heater is natural convection. The air enters through the lower air intake grill, passes through the heating element (in Scarlett SC-2167 it is the most modern, monolithic, there are details about the types of heating elements in the convectors) and, already warm, exits back into the room through the upper air distribution grill. In fact, such heaters enhance, make natural convection more intense, organizing the movement of air in the room (when it cools down, warm air moves down and again enters the convector).

The thermostat and control system are electronic here. All adjustments can be made in two ways - on the side there is a small panel with buttons, but it is more convenient, of course, to use the remote control included in the package. In the upper left corner of the front glass panel there is a display on which the settings entered by the user are shown in blue symbols: you can select the desired temperature (degree setting: 5 to 35 ° C), the power level, activate the switch-off timer or lock the control system (child protection) ... An anti-freeze mode is provided here (maintaining a minimum positive temperature in the room so that in winter, in the absence of the owner, the communications and the device itself do not freeze), but there is no separate button to activate it - you just need to set the temperature, for example, + 5 ° C or slightly higher ...

The convector can be mounted on a wall (there is a set of fasteners), or it can be mounted on a wheel base. But in the second case, it seemed to us not very convenient to move it - there are no handles for this on the body, devices, and since the body still heats up (you won't get burned, but the heating is noticeable), moving the gadget on the floor becomes a small problem. Unless you can move your foot, but with a model weighing 9.3 kg (the heaviest of the five), not everyone will be comfortable doing this. In our opinion, this point requires improvement.

The main specifications and cost:

  • Maximum power: 2000W
  • Heated area - up to 18 m2
  • Power levels: 1,000 W, 2,000 W
  • Monolithic aluminum heating element
  • overheat protection
  • Roll-over shutdown
  • Sleep timer (24 hours)
  • Wall or floor placement
  • Dust and moisture protection class - IP 24
  • Anti-freeze mode
  • Cost - 4,000 rubles

During testing, the Scarlett SC-2167 heater showed the following results: in 30 minutes, operating at maximum power, it increased the temperature in a closed room with an area of 17.2 m2 from 21.5 ° С to 26.2 ° С (by a little more than a degree, than the result of an oil heater - it turns out that the convector will heat up faster). We did not record any extraneous odors or sound during the heating process.

With regard to electricity consumption, here in the maximum power mode, at a set maximum temperature of 35 ° C, it was about 1,843 W. In the half power mode - about 1,120 watts. Note that a maximum of 2,000 W has not yet been recorded by us for heaters, while it is indicated for the Electrolux model and Scarlett SC-2167. But it is by this value, for example, that the area serviced by the device is calculated.

Pros:

  • Nice appearance
  • The ability to accurately set the desired temperature that the device will try to maintain
  • Remote control
  • Front panel display
  • Warms up the room faster than an oil heater of the same maximum power
  • Quiet operation

Minuses:

  • Inconvenient to move when operating on the floor
  • The heater is quite heavy
  • High-gloss black glass leaves noticeable fingerprints
  • The electrical wire does not detach from the body

Scarlett SC-253 infrared heater test drive

Infrared heaters are not widely used, for example, in city apartments. They have become widespread, for example, on the open terraces of cafes or country houses, you can see them in saunas, bathrooms. These heaters differ from all other test participants in that it is logical to use them not only indoors, but also outdoors, in the open air.

The principle of operation of an infrared heater is that thermal (infrared) radiation does not heat the air itself, but the surrounding objects (furniture, floor, walls), from which the so-called secondary heat is transferred to the air. Naturally, heat radiation does not bypass people and pets. There are different types of infrared heaters, they differ in heating elements: they are quartz, halogen or carbon. Scarlett SC-253 is a quartz infrared heater. Here, the tungsten filament is located in a quartz glass tube, where a vacuum is created (so that the metal does not oxidize). Under influence electric current the thread heats up to about 2000 ° C and radiates heat.

So, the Scarlett SC-253 infrared heater. It's rather difficult to talk about design here - the manufacturer clearly put functionality in the first place. Note that I would like better materials - the plastic parts of this thermal gadget produced in China did not cause delight in this sense: burrs and irregularities were noticed. The heater can be attached to a wall or ceiling (fasteners are supplied with it), or it can be used in floor mode - that's what we did. With the device, you supply a kind of telescopic tripod, and the heater itself, the body of which is made of metal and plastic, is fixed on it.

Let's face it, from the instructions we did not immediately understand how to properly assemble, especially the fastening of the Scarlett SC-253 heating block on a tripod (information is given in the form of pictures). Perhaps, of course, these are the peculiarities of the perception of those who tested the heater, but nevertheless, we note that the instructions could be more understandable.

The Scarlett SC-253 infrared heater is very easy to use. After the assembly is finally completed, in order to turn on the heating, you just need to insert the plug of the electric wire into the outlet and turn the regulator on the body - select the heating intensity (we had questions about the choice of intensity - see below). Everything, strong heat radiation is felt in a few seconds.

We will especially note the safety factor. In our opinion, the grill that encloses the heating element could be more frequent: an adult's finger only partially penetrates it, but a child's finger - there may be questions here. Of course, the grill has a shape curved from the heating element, which serves as an additional safety factor, but nevertheless, if there are children in the family and in general in a place that needs heating, we still recommend choosing a different type of heater or fan heater.

In addition, this heater is the most unstable of the entire quintet of thermal gadgets we tested - the method of installation on the floor (on a tripod, albeit with four holding legs) implies the possibility of rather easy accidental overturning. The consequence of this may be a broken quartz tube (fragments), in addition, there is no information about auto-shutdown when this device falls. Someone could just be hit by a falling heater.

Main technical characteristics and cost:

  • The maximum power is 1,800 watts.
  • Maximum heated area - 18 m2
  • Quartz glass tube
  • Electromechanical control
  • overheat protection
  • Floor standing height adjustment: 1.1 m to 1.75 m
  • Wall, ceiling or pull-out shelf mountable
  • Cost: 2 700 rubles

Let's move on to the test results of the Scarlett SC-253 infrared heater. Like all the participants in the test, he worked for 30 minutes at maximum power (we recall, he has less than the other 4 devices - 1,800 W). He managed to raise the temperature in the room by 5 degrees: from 21.5 ° C to 26.5 ° C. So far, this is the best result among heaters (it turns out that with less power consumption the result turned out to be better - the air is warmer), but there are still fan heaters ahead.

Electricity consumption here almost corresponded to the maximum value declared by the manufacturer - the wattmeter showed a value of about 1,730 W. At the same time, however, the indicators almost did not change at all when we reduced the heating intensity, which, in theory, should also reduce the power consumption - no, this did not happen here. We did not record any extraneous odors or noise during heating.

Pros:

  • Ease of operation
  • Quick warm-up
  • Low price
  • Good energy efficiency

Minuses:

  • We do not consider infrared heaters the safest of all, especially when floor mounted on a tripod
  • No decrease in energy consumption was recorded with a decrease in the heating level
  • Not the easiest assembly when mounted on a tripod
  • Mediocre quality of plastic structural elements
  • The electrical wire does not detach from the body

Test drive of the Stadler Form Max fan heater

We specially took for the test not just an ordinary fan heater, but, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful ones sold in Russian stores today. The design is really great here - a beautiful gadget. Available in several colors: red, yellow, gray and white. We got a bright red specimen - in winter there are often not enough bright colors. A model in a plastic case, we did not have any complaints about the quality of the materials used. There is a small recess in the back of the fan heater, which can be used as a carrying handle (maybe this is it, but then it can be called inconspicuous). The model is stable thanks to three reliable legs.

The principle of operation of the fan heater is simple - air, with the help of a built-in fan, is sucked into the case, passes through the heating element and then, heated, goes into the room. Many fan heaters can also work simply in ventilation mode - without heating the air.

In terms of functionality, it is a very ordinary fan heater with a metal spiral heating element, an electromechanical thermostat and controls. The user has two levels of heating intensity, ventilation mode without heating. There are also two power levels.

Main technical characteristics and cost:

  • Maximum power - 2000 W
  • Heated area - up to 25 m2
  • Power levels: 800W, 2,000W
  • Electromechanical control system
  • Thermostat (temperature selection, but not degree setting)
  • Anti-freeze mode
  • overheat protection
  • Cost - about 5,000 rubles

During testing, the handsome Max from Stadler Form showed the following results: in 30 minutes, when operating at maximum power, he increased the air temperature by almost 6 degrees (from 21.5 ° C to 27.4 ° C), which is still the best result of all tested thermal gadgets (but there is still a Dyson AM05 test ahead).

For a fan heater, the measurement of the noise level is relevant. We did this using a household sound level meter, placing it at a distance of about a meter from the model, as well as very close to it. The device was operating at maximum power, with the highest fan speed. As a result, in the first case, we recorded a noise of about 49 dB, and in the second, a little more than 53 dB. The manufacturer gives data on 40 dB, but information about the noise, as a rule, is always given by its level with the minimum intensity of work.

What about electricity consumption? In the case of the Stadler Form Max, the second (maximum) power level was about 1,874 watts, the first level was 784 watts, and cold ventilation was only about 14 watts. In general, these data are almost in line with those declared by the manufacturer (except for the maximum power).

Pros:

  • Attractive appearance
  • Quality materials
  • Rapid heating of indoor air
  • Works quietly
  • Simple and intuitive control
  • Compactness
  • Electrical wire detachable from the body

Minuses:

  • No auto shut-off when rollover
  • It is impossible to set a specific desired air temperature
  • No auto-rotation of the case for uniform air distribution throughout the room

Test drive of the Dyson AM05 Hot + Cool fan heater

Another example of an unusual design in our review is the Dyson AM05 Hot + Cool fan heater. Unlike the previous test participant, who clearly refers us with his appearance to the gadgets of the middle of the last century, when there was no such thing as a "gadget", the model from James Dyson is clearly from another cohort - here we are witnessing a transition to futurism. A slender device with soft rounded lines - it would easily fit into the interior of an interplanetary cruise ship. First class cabins.

This fan heater is unusual not only for its appearance, but also for its device in general. Actually, it was it, in many ways, that dictated the design decision. There are no conventional fan blades, which are responsible for moving the air that is sucked into the Dyson AM05 through the perforations in the lower part of the housing, thanks to the turbocharger impeller that is part of the motor. Further, the air, passing through the ceramic heating element, goes into the aerodynamic circuit developed specifically for the Dyson series of fans and heaters by the engineers of the British company. Passing through it, it increases its speed, and at the exit back into the room it captures additional air masses with it, which serves to accelerate the distribution of warm air masses throughout the room.

The control system and thermostat of the Dyson AM05 are electronic. There is a small display on which the temperature settings are displayed (by degrees, from 1 to 37 ° C, the fan heater will try to maintain the desired temperature). These settings, as well as the speed of operation, are regulated by buttons on the body, but for the convenience of the user there is a small and cute (in comparison, for example, with the Scarlett SC-2167 heater remote control), full-function remote control. By the way, it can be stored directly on the heater body - a magnetic holder is provided in the upper part. Desktop or floor mounting. You can change the angle of the warm air supply, as well as activate the rotation of the case by 70 °. The model is capable of operating in ventilation mode.

Main technical characteristics and cost:

  • Maximum power - 2000 W
  • Heated area - up to 37 m2
  • Number of speeds (power levels) - 10
  • Electronic control system
  • Thermostat (temperature selection, degree setting)
  • Anti-freeze mode
  • overheat protection
  • Roll-over shutdown
  • Remote control stored on the body
  • Cost - 18,000 rubles

During testing, Dyson AM05 heated the air in the room for 30 minutes of operation at maximum power (the auto-rotate function of the case was not active) to 28.7 ° C, that is, increased the temperature by more than 7 degrees (from 21.5 ° C), which is the best result of all five models.

As one of the autonomous heat sources, heating radiators are very popular, because they are affordable, mobile, safe and convenient to use. Every year, new models of such devices are supplied to the market, so the process of choosing them becomes much more complicated. Our rating, which includes the best oil heaters in different categories, will help you find the most effective, functional, inexpensive and practical option in this assortment.

Convector or oil heater - which is better to choose

The difference between them is that the former is solid, flat and smooth. In most cases, it needs to be fixed on the wall, the principle of operation is based on air convection. In the case of a radiator, it emits heat itself after heating the oil liquid inside it. This device consists of several sections, the number of which can be up to nine or more. By the way, a good fan heater can also be used to quickly raise the temperature in a small room.

Comparative table of characteristics of both types of equipment:

Name Benefits disadvantages
Convector Economical energy consumptionKicks dust into the air
Rapid heating of the roomLarge
Convenient to operateMost often requires wall mounting
Radiator Cheaper than convectorsService life is less than that of convectors (5-10 years)
Long warm-up time
More often goes on wheelsDoesn't clean the air
Quiet operation

Does not dry the air

Considering the advantages and disadvantages of both types of devices, the conclusion suggests itself that the radiator is more suitable for maintaining the temperature, and the convector is more suitable for its rapid increase.

Oil heater - which company is better to buy

Competition among manufacturers thermal equipment very high, mainly between European brands. Among the leaders were the Swedish, Austrian, Italian and other firms.

WHAT TO CHOOSE?

The choice is not an easy one. We sincerely hope that the test will help you find "your" heater. We ordered the event in accredited testing laboratory TESTBET.

The selected devices belong to the same class, have the same power rating of -2000 W (except for PO-1123 from Aeronik, 2300 W), look similar, but when tested, they behave differently. The more interesting it is to get acquainted!

WE STUDY TECHNICAL DATA

1. Heating elements

The models presented have three heating levels:

  • Maximum - two heating elements are on,
  • medium - heating element for 1200 W,
  • minimum - heating element for 800 watts.

Aeronik has a slightly more powerful element.

2. Frost protection

An original function, meaning that the device can maintain a temperature of about 5 ° C. This is true for summer cottages: I turned on the heater and left it on (if you just leave the heater for the winter in an unheated house, the oil will thicken in it). For three models, this possibility is indicated in the instructions, for the rest, you can set the minimum temperature manually.

3. Number of radiator sections

The number of fins directly depends on the power: the higher the power of the radiator, the more fins are needed to dissipate it. Heaters with a capacity of 2000 W are in the greatest demand, since this is the optimal power for city apartments, which allows you to heat a room of 20 sq.m. Typically, heaters of this capacity have 9 sections. The heater, presented by De'Longhi, has eight sections, but it has an outer casing that facilitates convective traction. And Aeronik provided the device with 11 sections, as it has a higher power.

4. Timer, clock, remote control

A nice feature of De'Longhi TRD0820ER and Vitek VT-1729 BK devices is the possibility of delayed start (with De'Longhi it is possible to turn off) due to the presence of a timer. You leave for work, set the time of the expected return, a comfortable temperature for your arrival is provided. De'Longhi TRD0820ER also has a remote control that allows you to adjust the room temperature from the comfort of your couch.

MEASURING TECHNICAL PARAMETERS

This stage of the test was carried out at a voltage of 220 V.

1. Power

Measurement of the actual power consumption at a voltage of 220 V revealed a deviation from the nominal one declared by the manufacturer. The minimum difference in percentage was shown by the heaters Beko BRZ-2009 and Vitek VT-1729 BK (3.28% each), the maximum - Timberk TOR 21.2009 HA (-21.2%).

2. Heater warm-up time

At this stage, we measured the time it took for the device to warm up to the operating temperature. The warm-up time depends on the design of the heaters, the location of the heating elements, the brand of oil and other features of the devices.

The initial temperature is room temperature 23 +/- 2 ° С.

This test is carried out at the maximum power of the heaters. The fastest was the Beko BRZ-2009 (6 min 40 sec), the slower - Scarlett SC-1167 (15 min 30 sec). The temperature was measured according to the standard, at the hottest point of the case (the hottest point is located at each heater, as a rule, at the bottom, closer to the heating element).

3. Efficiency of heat radiation

This is a very tricky option. Due to convection, the radiation of oil heaters is mainly directed upward, and only a small part is directed sideways. And this part, in fact, determines how warm we will be next to the device.

Heat radiation efficiency is the temperature difference in front of and behind a black plywood test bench one meter to the side of the heater. Maximum efficiency - for Aeronik PO-1123M - 3.85 ° С, minimum for Timberk TOR 21.2009 HA - 2.05 ° С.

MEASURING FUNCTIONAL PARAMETERS

This part of the test is one of the most interesting. We will find out how efficiently the devices heat, how the temperature will change while maintaining a given value, how many kilowatts we will consume, and we will be able to understand how much additional heat will cost us.

We heat the room

How did the measurements take place? For a correct comparison of the heating capabilities of the heaters, they were placed in a test chamber: an unheated room with an area of 10 sq. M. Each device was tested separately. The heater has both heating elements turned on, i.e. he worked at the maximum heating stage. The time of heating the room by 10 ° C and the energy consumption of this process were measured.

The conditions were as close as possible to real ones: after all, in winter there are constant heat leaks in the house both through the windows and through the walls. The more interesting!

The Scarlett SC-1167 air heated the fastest (65 min), the slowest - Beko BRZ-2009 (2 hours 51 min). Why is this happening?

For each heater, the thermostat is configured differently: in some, "acceleration" occurs with the continuous operation of two heating elements, while in others - with periodic shutdown of one or two heating elements.

We keep the temperature

The second important task of any oil heater is to be able to maintain the temperature in the room, while spending a minimum of energy. After the set temperature was reached, it was fixed by smoothly turning the thermostat knob until it clicks. After that, the devices worked, trying to maintain the set temperature.

The operating algorithm for different devices was different: some devices (Aeronik PO-1123M, Scarlett SC-1167, Timberk TOR 21/2009 HA, Unit UOR-920) worked for some time at maximum mode, turning off the heating for a short period of time (from 2 up to 5 minutes); De'Longhi TRD0820ER alternated work in maximum and medium modes, and VitekVT-1729 BK - in maximum and minimum, Beko BRZ-2009 maintained the temperature, including only the middle stage of heating.

Such on-off modes lead to some temperature fluctuations. The smaller this range, the better. The measured fluctuations turned out to be very insignificant. After all, oil coolers are inert: after shutdown, the hot oil is in no hurry to cool down. The minimum range for De'Longhi TRD0820ER and Unit UOR-920 is only half a degree, the maximum is 1.33 ° C, for Scarlett SC-1167. Such deviations are absolutely invisible without special measurements.

In addition, the change in temperature was recorded while maintaining a predetermined heating level - i.e. deviation from the set temperature after an extended period of time (several hours of operation until a steady state, when the temperature does not change anymore). The fact is that heaters tend to slightly "overheat" the room over time. All models have passed the test with dignity, the maximum increase of +1.83? C in the Scarlett SC-1167 is very small and imperceptible for humans.

Profitability

How much energy will we spend to make a room with an area of 10 sq.m. became warmer by 10 * C? It turned out that the Vitek model (1.75 kW) spends the least energy on heating, and the most wasteful ones are the Beko BRZ-2009 (2.6 kW) and Aeronic PO-1123M (2.5 kW).

In addition, the energy consumption was measured while maintaining the temperature in the room. The most economical heater turned out to be Beko BRZ-200 (0.88 kWh), and the most "expensive" ones were De'Longhi TRD0820ER (1.56 kWh) and Scarlett SC-1167 (1.43 kWh).

Ease of use and ergonomics

It would seem that the oil cooler is conceptually simple: I plugged the plug into the outlet, and it became warm. But this is only at first glance. There are a lot of little things that make working with the device pleasant, and vice versa. This part of the test is intended to introduce us to the convenience of using oil heaters.

Preparation for work

The first thing you have to do after removing the device from the box is the mounting of the supports. A rare specimen does not require screwing legs and wheels. De'Longhi TRD0820 with its “Easy Wheel” system (see the instructions for the exact name) has become such an outstanding device in our set. For other models, the roller bearings are attached to the body by U-shaped holders with wing nuts.

Switching on-switching heating stages

Heating stages are predominantly controlled by keys. This is typical not only of the tested devices, but reflects the situation on the market as a whole. In our seven heaters, De'Longhi TRD0820 and Vitek VK-1729 BK turned out to have a more convenient and expensive version, electronic, which allows you to see on the display what exactly is being switched.

Thermostat control

What should be the adjustment? Smooth, with an easy movement of the swivel wheel, if any, with a clear click. The click produces the bimetallic plate at a certain predetermined temperature level when heating stops. Aeronik PO-1123M and Scarlett SC-1167 turned out to be close to ideal.

De'Longhi TRD0820 and Vitek VK-1729 BK were out of competition with their electronics: both models allow you to set temperature values with an accuracy of a degree. De'Longhi TRD0820 can adjust the temperature from the remote control.

Unfortunately, the Timberk TOR 21.2009 heater, unfortunately, touches the body when adjusting.

Work indication

The indicator must be bright! Same as De'Longhi TRD0820 and Vitek VK-1729 BK. These heaters received the maximum score, the rest were rated “good”.

Marking

What is required from labeling? Visibility, durability, contrast. In general, the devices performed well during testing, but no one earned the maximum ratings.

Moving the heater

Fortunately, our home heat carrier is not stationary. And if so, he must easily move around the room on rollers. The handle by which you will carry it should be comfortable. Timberk TOR has the best rollers and a handle on 21.2009 - the heater received the highest score.

Storing the power cord

For winding the cord, as a rule, a special reel from the end is provided. How should the cord be stored? For example, like the Unit, in which it is located on a wide, convenient device, and the plug is clearly attached at the top.

Cleaning and care

The issue of hygiene for a heating device is very, very relevant. A sleek body and a minimum of secluded spots for dirt and dust to hide, distinguish four of the seven heaters. The protective cover De'Longhi TRD0820, which added points to the model at other stages of testing, let it down here. There are plenty of hard-to-reach places for cleaning!

Instructions

Reading instructions is fun and useful. Thanks to him, you can get to know more about the acquired miracle of technology, find out what is necessary in order for it to serve faithfully. Well, or, at least, how to collect this miracle. The description should be well illustrated, detailed, intelligible and logical, for example, like De'Longhi TRD0820 and Aeronic PO-1123M. If the font, like that of Beko BRZ-2009, is small, acquaintance with the device is difficult. What can we say about the instructions Vitek VK-1729 BK, in which the font is pale blue and vanishingly small, and the paper is of high quality, glossy ... and glare?

GENERAL RESULTS

The overall assessment consisted of three indicators: functional tests (50%), assessment of technical parameters (30%) and assessment of ergonomics and usability (20%).

It's nice that all the models got “good” marks.

The De'Longhi TRD0820ER heater became the best in terms of ergonomics, the Aeronik PO-1123M was the leader in technical parameters, and the Vitek VT-1729 BK heater became the winner in functional tests.

We also note the most economical (in temperature maintenance mode) oil heater among the tested models - Beko BRZ-2009.

Safety test: there will be no fire!

A fire is a terrible thing, and therefore it is so important that such a device as a heater is truly reliable and gives good warmth without turning it into an evil fire. The safety of heaters, like any electrical appliance, has two sides:

Compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards.

Correct use of the device, strict adherence to all points of the instructions.

Marking and instructions

Tested according to section 7 of GOST R IEC 60335-2-30-99.

Russian norms and rules on safety are very strict, for example, they require that the heater be labeled “do not cover” specifically for those who like to use the heater to dry things.

Such an inscription in Russian is present on three heaters - Beko BRZ-2009, Timberk TOR 21/2009 HA and Unit UOR-920.

The operating instructions must contain information sufficient for the safe use of the device. From it you should learn:

the appliance must not be placed near an outlet (if high temperatures in case of insufficient heat dissipation, the plastic of the socket may melt or the wallpaper may smoke),

on the procedure for carrying out repairs requiring opening the container with oil,

about the need to follow the instructions for the disposal of oil from an out-of-service heater.

All these requirements are in accordance with the instructions for heaters Beko BRZ-2009 and De'Longhi TRD0820ER.

Protection against contact with live parts

Tested according to section 8 of GOST R IEC 600335-2-30-99.

The designs of all oil heaters provided for the test provide sufficient protection against accidental contact with live parts. It is gratifying!

Power consumption and current

Tested according to section 10 of GOST R IEC 60335-2-30-99.

Not all modern electrical appliances are designed to operate at a voltage of 220 V. There are 230 V, 220-240 W, and 220-230 V. Therefore, in this test, the power of the heaters was checked strictly at the voltage that the manufacturer indicated in the instructions. Power deviation should not be more than + 5% / - 10%.

All heaters passed the test, except for Timberk TOR 21.2009 ON. In this case, the consumer is deceived: he bought a 2000 W heater, and they slipped him 1500 W.

Tests of external parts of heaters "Heating"

Tested according to section 11 of GOST R IEC 60335-2-30-99.

The test was carried out in this way - the heater worked for several hours in the maximum heating mode. Then, using a test rod with a diameter of 75 mm, the temperature of the outer parts of the case was measured.

This test simulates accidentally touching the heater with your knee. According to GOST, the case temperature should not exceed the temperature environment 23 +/- 2 ° С by more than 85 ° С. The heaters Beko BRZ-2009 turned out to be the "coldest" - the temperature of external surfaces did not exceed + 71 ° С, De'Longhi TRD0820ER - + 79 ° С, Unit UOR-920 - + 80 ° C.

It is not recommended to touch other heaters with bare knees and other parts of the body.

Tests in "Abnormal operation" mode

Tested according to section 19 of GOST R IEC 60335-2-30-99.

Abnormal is defined as operating under abnormal conditions.

You decide to dry your outerwear on a battery (the clothes were replaced with a special thick felt during testing).

In this case, the device must be smarter than its owners and save them from fire. The temperature of the device case should not exceed + 150 ° C.

Heaters Aeronik PO-1123M, Beko BRZ-2009, De'Longhi TRD0820ER, Unit UOR-920, Vitek VT-1729 BK have successfully passed the test.

A situation is simulated in which a heater that has been operating for a long time topples to the floor.

What is the point of a rollover check? The oil in the cavity is not poured to the eyeballs. Accordingly, when the heater lies on the floor, it flows into the voids, exposing the heating elements. If there is enough oil, then nothing will happen, since it will remove heat from the heating elements, if not, the elements will heat up, the temperature and pressure in the case will rise, the oil will boil, fly out, tearing the case shell. A third option is possible: a rollover sensor installed in the heater simply turns off the device if it falls. The Vitek VT-1729 BK model has such a pendulum sensor.

Heaters Beko BRZ-2009, De'Longhi TRD0820ER, Scarlett SC-1167, Unit UOR-920 have also successfully passed the test.

And for Aeronik PO-1123M and Timberk TOR on 21.2009 HA, the temperature exceeded the permissible value and continued to rise by inertia after the devices were turned off.

Stability and mechanical hazard

Tested according to section 20 of GOST R IEC 60335-2-30-99.

Do appliances tip over so easily? To verify this, a simple test was carried out: first, the heaters were placed on an inclined surface (with a slope of 15º). Then a perpendicular impact with a force of 5 N was applied, simulating an accidental touching of the device.
