On fertile soils, the bushes grow up to 40-60 cm in height, and the diameter of the flowers is from 3 to 6 cm. I noticed that in the first year of flowering, from 8 to 20 flowers are formed on the bush, in the second year - from 5 to 50. Sometimes it gives flowers and in the third year. Mass flowering lasts about a month. I plant a carnation on an elevated, open, well-lit area with a slight slope for the fall and spring waters to drain. Temporary stagnation of water has a detrimental effect on the condition of the carnation, and in low places all plants are usually soaked.
To get really good specimens, I cultivate the loam, preliminarily (in 2-3 years) filling the soil with organic fertilizers: manure, compost, peat, etc. (10-15 kg per 1 sq. M, including 2-3 kg of fecal mass) I sow seeds in the second half of April in boxes or on an insulated garden bed, but it is also possible on a simple one. I start picking seedlings on the ridges in mid-June. Distance - 5 × 5 (even better 7 × 7 cm). I plant it in the ground from July 20 to August 20 and always - with a lump of earth. Before planting, I add 200 g of organic-mineral mixture to the hole (peat - 3 kg, humus - 2 kg, superphosphate - 2 kg, wood - 2 kg, mullein - 1 kg). After planting, I spend two waterings (in August and September) at the rate of 0.5 liters of water per well for watering. This promotes better rooting of plants before winter begins.
After watering, I do the loosening. The seeds are easy to obtain. But for this purpose, I specially leave the terry carnation bushes and carefully look after them: I put pegs, tie plants to them, water them, loosen the ground around them, feed them, etc. I collect seeds as they ripen - in August and September.
