Homemade children's pool. How to build a pool with your own hands - we make a concrete pool in the country (detailed instructions). Types of finished bowls: plastic and composite

A pool at the dacha becomes an indispensable attribute. They can be large, small, concrete, inflatable, frame and so on. It often happens that you want to have a swimming pool in a suburban area, but you don’t have enough finances. It is in this case that it is worth turning on your imagination to its full potential and coming up with what available materials can be used for its construction. Thanks to this, you can build a pond on your site without spending a cent.

How to make a swimming pool at your dacha with your own hands from scrap materials

Using a shipping container is one of the most optimal options for building a pool on a summer cottage. It will be large enough to swim in. For a small pool, you can consider a huge tire bowl as the main material, which is used for heavy special equipment. A tree or a regular pit is suitable as a building material for a seasonal pool. The most optimal and durable option is concrete.

Shipping container

Of course, not everyone has such a thing, but still, for those who have it, you can breathe new life into it and build a pool out of it. Or you can purchase it. The price for it is small. Such a structure has many advantages:

  • First of all, it’s worth mentioning the price. This is a really cheap construction option.
  • Building a pool from a container will take a little time and will not cause any difficulties. There is no need to attract additional labor; everyone can handle all the work independently.
  • The metal frame of the container will make the future structure durable. The container will keep its shape and there is no need to dig a pit for it. You can simply place it on the ground and build a ladder to the top. The simplest and most budget option is a regular stepladder. The staircase can be attached to a metal frame by welding.
  • If you still decide to deepen it, then this can be done halfway. This way, you won't have to deal with complex excavation work.
  • It is quite easy to embed all communications into the container. Connecting all the necessary pipes can be done without using a welding machine.
  • At any time, the container pool can be moved to another location. Dismantling the structure is easy.

This container will be too big for children. Therefore, you can build a “paddling pool” for them from a container from a car.

Porcelain tiles will help make such a pool attractive from the inside, and if you build a wooden formwork, from which you take steps and make a place for changing clothes under them, then the structure will turn into a real masterpiece.

The container can be decorated to your liking. It all depends on the owner’s imagination. It can turn into a real swimming complex if you try.

Check the container carefully if it is old. It may have cracks and holes. They need to be sealed. It is also necessary to carefully examine it for the presence of rust. If one is found, the container must be thoroughly cleaned, coated with primer and mastic, and covered with waterproofing.

Tire

The wheels of heavy special equipment (tractor, combine harvester or truck) have large and heavy tires. They can be used to build a wonderful pool for children. Financial investments for such construction are practically reduced to zero.

Such a pool has a number of advantages. For example, you already have the walls of the pool ready, that is, the water tank is almost completely ready. The thick rubber that makes up the wheel is capable of holding water perfectly. In addition, the tire will last a very long time and is not afraid of temperature changes.

The main disadvantage of such a pool is its small size. That is why it will most likely be more suitable for children, since adults will not be interested in it.

Nitro paint dries very quickly. In order to transform the surface, it is enough to apply just one layer. The enamel is applied in two layers. Painting the surface with an aerosol, of which there are a large number of shades on the market, is also quite simple.

By choosing oil paint, you will get an opaque and durable paint job. And if you add a little 40 percent laundry soap to it, the surface can be made matte (0.1 kilograms per 3 liters).

Concrete

Concrete is one of the most affordable building materials. It is made from crushed stone, gravel, sand, cement and water. Using the tips described below, building a concrete pool at your dacha will not be difficult. There are some economical options for such construction.

Experts recommend not starting to build a complex large pool if you do not have any construction experience. It is better to practice a little first and build a small simple reservoir or pond. To build it, you will need to do the same work as to build a large pool. Just in a smaller volume.

Advantages of a concrete pool

  • Durability is one of the main trump cards of such a structure.
  • If you use high-quality building materials during construction, the resulting structure will be very durable.
  • Such a pool can be placed both inside the house and in the area around the house.
  • Finishing work for a concrete pool can be done using completely different materials: ceramics, mosaics or decorative plaster.
  • Composite products sold on the market are much more expensive than a concrete pool.

Disadvantages of a concrete pool

  • If the spillway or water supply system is installed incorrectly, the water supply will have to be completely redone.
  • If the sealing is done poorly or low-quality building materials are used, water leakage may occur.
  • If finishing technologies are not followed, the decoration elements may fall off.
  • Mold can form in your pool if you don't care for it and clean it regularly.

Before you start building a pool, carefully analyze your strengths. This process requires a lot of time and effort.

You can always turn to specialists for help.

Building a concrete pool

In general, there is nothing complicated in the construction work of constructing a concrete pool. You just need to find time to study all the nuances and directly to the construction itself.

Wooden container or pit for a seasonal pool

At the end of the summer season, the water from the pool must be removed and the waterproofing material removed for the winter. A unique tub or tub can be designed with your own hands. The surface of the made tub must be covered with waterproofing material and secured along the edges.

There is an alternative. You can dig a pit. Thus, the pool can be made of any shape. To do this, compact the walls and bottom of the pit thoroughly and cover it with waterproofing material. To do this, use a special film or tarpaulin. Cover the waterproofing with a margin of at least 50 centimeters. The material is secured with wooden blocks or pebbles. To prevent the waterproofing from rising, sprinkle it with a 10-centimeter layer of sand.

If the angle of inclination of the pit is steep, then soil spillage cannot be avoided.

To remove such a pool when the season is over, first drain it, then sweep away the sand and remove the waterproofing.

Wooden pallets as pool material

Wooden pallets can be an excellent material for building a pool. Their size and shape are perfect for building pond walls. By increasing the number of pallets, the pool can be made more round. Most often, there are enough pieces for its construction. It can accommodate from one to six people. This pool has its advantages:

  • It has fairly high sides, so the volume of water will be quite large.
  • A staircase or slide can be added to it without any problems.
  • The structure does not require digging a deep pit.
  • Mobile pool. If necessary, you can either remove it altogether or move it to a new location at any time.
  • The main material of the structure is wood, which is known to be an environmentally friendly raw material.
  • If one of the sections is damaged, it can easily be replaced with a new one. To do this, simply drain the water.

If we talk about the disadvantages of this option, then they also have their place. The wooden structure of the pool must be strengthened. This can be done using a textile tie-down strap or stops. Another nuance of the construction of such a pool is its mandatory finishing. Well, in the end, wood is an easily perishable material. It requires special treatment with special impregnations against fungus.

To create this design, purchase:

  1. Shovel and bayonet shovels.
  2. Hammer.
  3. Screwdriver.
  4. Concrete mixing machine.
  5. Containers where you can store garbage, water and concrete.
  6. Jigsaw.
  7. Grinding machine or sandpaper.
  8. Roulette.
  9. Rope and pegs.
  10. Large size square.
  11. Level and plumb.
  12. Pliers.
  13. Fastening elements (screws and nails).

Construction works

Stock up on a sufficient number of pallets measuring 1.2x0.9 meters. First of all, it is necessary to treat all wooden elements with antifungal impregnations. Then dig a round pit, the diameter of which should be slightly larger than the future pool. Level the bottom of the hole and evenly fill it with a layer of gravel of at least 200 millimeters. Inside the pit, construct the skeleton of the future pool, turning the solid part of the pallet into the pool. The pallets themselves are connected to each other by boards that are fastened along the side of the future reservoir. To strengthen the structure, secure the bars at the joints with self-tapping screws.

Make holes in the frame for the drainage system.

Insert pipes into them through which water will be supplied to and drained from the pool. The finished structure must be additionally secured with two tightening straps.

To further strengthen the frame, drive wooden wedges in between the joints of the pallets.

Now you need to pour a 100-millimeter layer of concrete mixture onto the bottom and give it 5–7 days to harden. After this, you can start waterproofing the pool. For this purpose, PVC film is used.

To hide the not-so-attractive areas of the frame from the front side, you can trim it with OSB boards. Decoration is carried out depending on the taste preferences of the owner. The fastest way to do this is with rolls of reeds.

Plastic bottles as a building material

It would seem, how can you combine such incompatible things? It turns out that anything is possible. Skillful dreamers and summer residents have figured out how to use plastic bottles to their advantage.

A pool made from plastic bottles has its advantages. First of all, it is accessible material. Almost every day we receive used bottles. Moreover, their cost is a pittance. Plastic itself is a waterproofing material, since moisture does not penetrate through it and does not spoil it. The undoubted advantage of a plastic pool is its durability. And, of course, you can build a pond of any size and shape from this material.

The only downside to using plastic bottles as pool building material is that in order for them to hold their shape, each one needs to be filled with sand. And it will take a lot of it.

To carry out construction work, you will need almost the same tools as in the previous case.

It is more convenient to dig a pit for a large pool using a mini-excavator.

Construction works

  1. Select the location where the future pool will be located. The smoother it is, the less work you will have to prepare it. Clear it of debris and vegetation.
  2. Installing a slab foundation for this type of pool would be best.
  3. Dig a hole 4x2 meters. Its depth should be 15 centimeters. Level the bottom and compact it.
  4. Build a sand cushion that needs to be moistened and compacted well. The layer should be 15 centimeters. You can pour gravel on top.
  5. Build a formwork where the concrete will be poured. To do this, use wooden boards. Its width should be 200–250 millimeters.
  6. The next stage is the construction of a lattice from 8 mm reinforcement. The size of the grid cells is 100X100 millimeters, and the total area is 8 square meters. Secure the intersections of the rods with wire.
  7. Place the reinforcement frame on the bottom. It should not come into contact with sand. To lay it like this, place several halves of bricks on the bottom.
  8. Then it is necessary to install all pipes and communications.
  9. Pour the concrete solution and level it using a rule or a long, level board.
  10. Leave the concrete for a week to harden.
  11. After this, you can begin to build walls from bottles.
  12. Fill each bottle with sand and close the lid.
  13. Apply cement strip. It should be equal to the height of the plastic container.
  14. The connecting link between the rows will be a reinforcement frame made of 0.3 mm rods. The dimensions of this frame should be equal to the strip of bottles.
  15. Place bottles of sand on the cement and fill all the cracks with concrete mortar.
  16. After laying the first row, fill the bottles with cement and place the reinforcement cage on top.
  17. Remove the formwork and continue laying out the bottles as described above until the height of the pool reaches the planned point.
  18. Leave everything until completely hardened.
  19. When the structure has hardened, plaster it.
  20. Creating a reliable waterproofing layer will help you cover the inner surface of the pool with bitumen.
  21. The final stage of work is giving it an aesthetic appearance. PVC film is laid inside. Exterior decoration is left to the taste preferences of the owner.

Care and operation

A pool located in the fresh air is always exposed to dirt, branches and leaves. To prevent this from happening, it is covered with a special cover with a fine mesh. If the pool is small, you can make your own cover from vine branches to cover it when not in use. If, nevertheless, debris gets into the water, it can be removed with a special juice, and algae growths can be removed with a brush.

Don't neglect changing the water. It is best to do this every 2-3 days. Water does not have to be disposed of aimlessly. At your dacha you probably have plants that need watering. Use this water for them.

For watering plants, water that has not been subjected to chemical treatment is suitable.

The bottom of the reservoir can be treated with a vacuum cleaner.

You must remember that the lifespan of the pool directly depends on how you care for it. If you do not want it to become an ugly, bad-smelling swamp, then do not neglect this event.

Methods of water purification (table)

Name Description
Physical This is the easiest way. The one mentioned a little above. It is characterized by the use of juices, a vacuum cleaner, and brushes. The installation of water filters can also be attributed to this cleaning method. Filters come in sand, cartridge and diatomaceous earth. The main component of the first is quartz. It is crushed into small particles. Water passes through these particles and is purified. This filter is the most budget-friendly. Most often it is installed in inflatable pools. The second option purifies water better, but is also more expensive. The filter element in it is cartridges that have a cylindrical shape. The latter option is made from compressed plates, which are made from the remains of fossil microorganisms. This filter purifies water best, and its price is the highest.
Chemical Special water purification products are used. They disinfect water, maintain a normal pH level, and remove the smallest dirt and grease particles that filters cannot handle. Plus, thanks to this method of purification, algae will not grow in the water.
Electrophysical This method uses ozonizers, ultraviolet rays and equipment that releases silver and copper ions. Chemical cleaning is not necessary in this case. No one will have an allergic reaction from this cleaning method. There will be no smell. This method is the most effective.

Video: building a pool

Building a swimming pool at your dacha can be a completely inexpensive process. If you correctly use the materials you already have on hand, you can build a wonderful recreation area for yourself and your loved ones. On hot summer days, the cool water in the pool will bring you great pleasure. Good luck!

When a country house appears, many people think about how to build a pool with their own hands. Often there is not enough money to hire specialists. Therefore, the owners are interested in how to build a pool with their own hands cheaply, reliably and originally.

The plan for how to build a pool with your own hands directly depends on the purpose of the future artificial reservoir. For children, a small and shallow artificial pond of round or oval shape is sufficient. The absence of sharp corners will protect kids from accidental injuries.

It is better to make an artificial pond for swimming in an elongated shape. During construction, the following basic parameters must be observed:

  • depth not less than 150 cm;
  • length 3-4 m;
  • width at least 2 m.

If desired, you can install a springboard, but in this case the depth of the bowl must be at least 250 cm. If you determine the location of the springboard in advance, this will make the diving area deeper, while the main depth can be normal.

When arranging separate areas for bathing children and adults, the bottom is stepped. The area for children must be separated by a partition. To build a pool with your own hands, you can choose the projects in the photo.

A slight slope on the site will make it easier to dig a pit and will help to arrange a multi-level pool with separate areas for swimming for children and adults.

How to choose a site for an artificial pond

Before you build a pool with your own hands, you need to choose the right site for it.

The determining factors are:

  • lack of green spaces in the immediate vicinity;
  • soil type;
  • location of groundwater;
  • close location of the water supply;
  • the absence of any buildings near the future pool;
  • the main wind direction in the territory;
  • natural slope of the soil.

The root system of plants can significantly damage the waterproofing of the pool. Fallen leaves from trees falling into the water will cause it to “bloom,” grow algae, and cause an unpleasant odor. Small animals will inevitably appear.

Clay soil on the site will greatly facilitate digging a pit. In the future, clay soil will serve as additional waterproofing.

The running water will speed up the filling of the bowl with water and make it easier to clean regularly. A constant wind direction in the area will help remove leaves and small debris from the surface of the water. Therefore, the pool must be positioned so that foreign objects are blown to the narrow wall of the bowl by the wind.

Materials for building a swimming pool

You need to select a material before building a pool with your own hands; the technology for its construction directly depends on the selected material.

It could be:

  • pouring concrete;
  • concrete block masonry;
  • expanded polystyrene blocks.

You can use ready-made containers. They are very easy to install and do not require special care. The main disadvantage of such a container is its simple shape. If you are not satisfied with it, you can build a pool from the above materials.

Concrete screed is poured onto the bottom and walls of the pit. Various facing tiles are used for finishing.

Concrete blocks are laid in the usual way. The main thing is to remember that every 3 rows it is necessary to lay reinforcement mesh.

Required Tools

To build a pool you will need the following tools and equipment:

  • shovel;
  • construction tape;
  • level and plumb;
  • sharp knife;
  • saw or hacksaw;
  • container for mixing concrete;
  • construction mixer;
  • work clothes and rags.

Filtration equipment

When deciding how to build a swimming pool at your dacha with your own hands, the choice of a cleaning system requires special attention. As a rule, for water purification the following is installed:

  • overflow system;
  • skimmer equipment;
  • floating filters.

An overflow system is best suited for pools with constant water circulation. A special grille installed around the perimeter ensures that water is poured into the cleaning container. Water purified from impurities and small debris is returned to the pool. The process occurs cyclically.

The advantage of an overflow system is the ability to fill the bowl to the top edge and visually increase the size. The main disadvantages are the high cost of the overflow system and the difficulty of maintaining it during operation.

A skimmer type system is better suited for smaller pools. Water is poured into a bowl with such a cleaning system slightly below the top edge of the side (12-15 cm). A skimmer-type purification device gradually sucks in water, purifies it and distills it back into the bowl.

The main advantages of this system are simple installation, simple maintenance and low cost. The disadvantages include low efficiency and the need to frequently change the water in the bowl.

Important! The easiest and cheapest way to clean a pool is a floating filter.

How to make a floating filter

To make a floating filter, you need to prepare the following:

  • electric drill;
  • wrench;
  • stub;
  • nuts;
  • Styrofoam;
  • aquarium pump.

You will also need a cartridge (replaceable), a polypropylene pipe, and a rotary corner unit. The diameter of these parts is 0.5 cm.

The filter and corner assembly must be drilled with an electric drill. On one side the structure is secured with a nut. At the other end you need to connect the aquarium pump.

To hold the filter on the surface of the water, you need to attach a piece of foam to the end of the pipe. The efficiency of cleaning in this way will increase significantly if there are several cartridges.

How to make a foundation pit

Before you build a pool with your own hands, you need to dig a pit. The site is marked in advance. To mark the location of the future pit, it is necessary to use small pegs with a stretched cord.

To get a pool of the required size, the pit needs to be made 0.5-0.6 m deeper. Along the perimeter, the pit should be 0.7-0.9 m larger than the bowl of the future reservoir.

Important! When digging a pit, the selected soil must be left in order to subsequently fill the structure around the edges.

The bottom of the finished pit must be strengthened. To do this, the soil must be leveled and thoroughly compacted. Then pour a 25-30 cm thick cushion of crushed stone of different calibers. Crushed stone must be compacted in a wet state. The best option is to do this with a special machine.

For manual tamping you will need a piece of log or thick timber. It is necessary to nail pieces of plywood to the ends and strengthen the vertical pieces of plywood between them.

Pouring concrete

Concrete for pouring a pit is prepared in the usual way. The required thickness of the concrete screed is from 25 to 30 cm. The main thing is to fill it in one go. For a small pool you will need a small concrete mixer. If the pool is being built large, you will have to order a large machine with concrete mortar.

Important! When thinking about how to properly build a pool with your own hands, you should remember that you need to place a reinforcing mesh inside the concrete screed at the bottom of the pit.

To do this, you need to lay out polystyrene foam cubes on top of the crushed stone cushion at the bottom of the pit or install vertically sections of reinforcing rods. A reinforcing mesh is fixed on top. It should be raised above the crushed stone layer by at least 5-7 cm.

You can remove air bubbles from the finished screed using a special vibrating machine or a metal rod. It needs to be poked into the solution over the entire area of the screed.

After removing the air, it is necessary to level the screed. It will take about 1 week to dry. During this time, it is necessary to wet the surface of the concrete with water so that it does not subsequently crack. It is convenient to spray water with a spray bottle.

Waterproofing for swimming pool

Waterproofing is laid on top of the hardened concrete, which must be spread on the bottom so that the edges are bent 20 cm above the top edge.

The following materials are used as waterproofing:

  • construction rolled polyethylene (thickness not less than 150 microns);
  • geotextiles;
  • ready-made waterproofing solution;
  • bitumen roofing felt;
  • liquid rubber.

A polystyrene foam (extruded) backing is laid on top of the waterproofing material. Construction tape is used to secure individual slabs together. During operation, polystyrene foam wrinkles easily, so you need to act especially carefully.

Pool made of polystyrene foam

The assembly of polystyrene foam walls begins with markings on the concrete base. This will help assemble the walls evenly and neatly. Expanded polystyrene blocks are considered one of the most easy-to-use and inexpensive materials for laying out pool walls. They are easy to install using existing markings.

The size of polystyrene foam blocks is selected in accordance with the size of the bowl. The material is fastened together using special grooves. You can cut the blocks with a hacksaw or a saw with fine teeth.

On a hot summer day while relaxing at the dacha, it is very pleasant to plunge into a cool body of water. It’s good if there is a pond or river nearby. And if not? This is where your own pool comes in handy. Does it need to be as big as the Sports Palace? No, the purpose of a country artificial pond is to have fun, and not to set swimming records. Find out about all the nuances that you need to know about in more detail later in the article.

What types of country pools are there?

Types of pools found in summer cottages:

  • from scrap materials;
  • frame;
  • made of wood and film;
  • made of polypropylene;
  • from cinder blocks;
  • made of concrete;
  • made of composite plastic.

Which of these types to choose depends on the taste preferences of the owner and his experience in working with the materials used. The depth of a country artificial pond for adults usually does not exceed 1.5 m, and for swimming children - 0.5 m.

If the dacha plot has a slope, it is better to install the pool at its highest point. The location should not have trees or bushes in the immediate vicinity.

With a buried stationary option, the root system can damage the integrity of the structure and disrupt its waterproofing and tightness.

It is better to orient an artificial reservoir along the prevailing wind direction in the area. This arrangement will prevent dry leaves, grass and dust from getting into the water.

During the construction of a swimming pool on a summer cottage, stairs, gangways and ladders are provided. They will ensure safe entry and exit from the artificial reservoir from the outside and inside.

Additional attention should be paid to the system for filling the pool with water and emptying it. Typically, in large artificial reservoirs, automatic cleaning is used, when water is passed through a filter system in a closed cycle. This allows you to not change the water for a long time.

If engineering communications - water supply and sewerage - are connected to the dacha plot, you can use this fortunate circumstance. However, direct connection will require a project and permission from resource supply organizations. Unauthorized connection to these networks is unacceptable and may be punished with a large fine.

To supply power to pumps, filters, water heating devices and for lighting in the evening or at night, it is necessary to provide a power supply system.

Advice

It is better to entrust the connection of electrical equipment to specialists. This will protect against accidental electric shock both when connecting and during operation of the pool.

Frame

Frame pools include structures made of vertical posts and horizontal connecting strips installed at a certain pitch. They can be stationary or collapsible, that is, those that can be dismantled or moved to another location at any time.

The vertical posts of stationary pools are firmly pinched into the ground. In this case, either pre-dug pits or drilled wells are used. Racks can be in the form of metal pipes or rolled metal - a channel, an angle, an I-beam, concrete - of a round or rectangular section, wooden - in the form of logs or beams.

Pinching is done using concrete or cement-sand mortar. Before use, wooden elements must be treated with agents that prevent rotting, fungal damage and protect against insects that feed on wood. To reduce the flexibility of the racks when filling an artificial reservoir with a height of more than 50 cm, spacers are installed.

Horizontal planks are attached to the racks using bolts or self-tapping screws, creating either a solid board or a sparse one, if longitudinal gaps are left between the boards to save materials (in this case, the tensile strength of the film used is taken into account). Most often, horizontal planks are made from wooden edged boards.

In the simplest case, the inner bowl is lined with polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film. There are films produced specifically for swimming pools that have a rich blue color. In a more expensive version, for long-term stationary operation, sheet propylene is used, the seams of which are welded with a conventional construction hairdryer. Exterior finishing can also be made of polymer film or plastic sidings, onto which some kind of pattern or coloring is applied for decorative purposes.

If you are installing a stationary outdoor pool, you should ensure that its bowl is protected during the cold season from precipitation in the form of rain and snow, as well as dirt and dust blown by the wind. This way, preparation for the start of operation will be kept to a minimum. As such protection, you can use a set of several wooden panels that completely cover the pool bowl with a polyethylene or polypropylene film laid on top of them.

Structurally, the pool cover is made in various ways. This can be a separate building or an extension to the main house. Its manufacture is similar to the construction of a one-story building with a basement, resting on strip foundations.

The difference is that a cutout is made in the ceiling of the first floor for the pool bowl, and it itself is placed in the basement of the building or extension.

The finishing of such a pool and its enclosing structures is usually done with ceramic tiles, recreation areas are created, and sometimes a room is allocated for a bath or sauna.

Another option is a lightweight structure made of a metal (usually aluminum) profile, which is either covered with transparent fiberglass panels or covered with PVC film.

Pipes, including plastic ones used for plumbing, and metal profiles can be used as racks and upper chords of arches or trusses; in addition to the most common rolled products, box-shaped or “C”-shaped sections are allowed.

Horizontal and cross connections for rigidity are made in the form of metal or plastic strips.

First, an outdoor pool is installed, then a fencing structure is installed around it. To prevent the collapse of such a structure from the loads acting on it, before its manufacture, it is better to calculate the load-bearing capacity.

Structurally, a lightweight building over a pool can have a gable configuration with a pediment, a hipped one, a round one - in the form of a tent or a yurt, an arched or semi-arched system. Side guards can be:

  • sliding;
  • removable.

In some cases, only a covering in the form of a canopy or awning is installed, protecting from atmospheric influences in the form of rain or direct sunlight.

From scrap materials

This type of pool can be both very simple and one that requires a lot of effort and time.

The fastest and easiest way to make a pool is to adapt for this purpose some ready-made container that already has a bottom and walls. These could be old cast iron bathtubs, metal containers with an open top. They can be installed either buried in the ground or installed directly on the ground. This type of pool is filled with water using a hose and drained by hand scooping or using a hand pump.

Sometimes used tires from giant wheels of heavy-duty vehicles are used as artificial reservoirs.

These pools are installed on a concrete base, buried in the ground to its own thickness (for the open version) or the height of the tire is added to it - for the option involving complete burial in the ground.

Once installed, this pool can be painted or finished in a variety of ways. It is very suitable for children's games and entertainment.

There are pools made from railway metal containers, with the upper part cut to the required height. Such pools can be completely or partially buried in the ground or simply installed on a planned earthen area.

For use along the walls and bottom of the pool, waterproofing is installed on the inside, and they themselves are decorated either with ceramic tiles laid on a cement-sand mortar or with polypropylene film.

Another option is to construct a pool with a frame assembled from wooden pallets - pallets used for loading and transporting various goods. The configuration of such a pool depends on the area allocated for it.

The number of pallets needed to make a pool is four or more. And it itself can have a plan view from a simple square to more complex polygons with an even and odd number of sides. On a prepared base, preferably a flat concrete area, the required polygon is assembled from pallets and then tied together in 3 or 4 levels with plastic tapes, which perform the same function as metal hoops in a wooden barrel.

The bottom and walls of the resulting pool are lined with polypropylene film. Such a pool turns out to be collapsible. It easily decomposes into component elements that can be stored indoors for the winter, transported to another site, etc.

Sometimes you come across recommendations - to fold the walls of the pool from old plastic bottles. This advice seems very dubious for sanitary and hygienic reasons, since the required amount of this “material” required even for a small pool can only be collected at the nearest landfill.

Made from polypropylene

These pools are usually made in two ways.

For an artificial reservoir, a ready-made bowl made of cast propylene of the required depth and dimensions in plan, manufactured in a factory, is purchased. The owner is only required to prepare a flat area or pit (if the option is buried), and also landscape the surrounding area.

Factory-made bowls have limited dimensions to ensure their safe transportation. If the owner wishes to go beyond these dimensions, the pool can be independently welded from sheet polypropylene. At the same time, to ensure stability from the bursting loads of the water column of a filled pool, you can use both a frame system and the soil walls of an open pit. Sheets of propylene are cut in accordance with the configuration of the pool and welded together using a construction hair dryer.

The advantages of polypropylene pools are that this material:
  • has a dense, water-impermeable structure;
  • resistant to aggressive atmospheric influences, including temperature changes;
  • neutral to the effects of solar ultraviolet radiation, not subject to fading and loss of original color;
  • is environmentally friendly and harmless to humans, does not release any harmful chemical compounds into the water that can cause allergies or poisoning;
  • has low heat transfer, allowing you to keep water heated for a long time without exchanging temperature with the surrounding space;
  • the flexibility and elasticity of polypropylene make it possible to form bowls of various configurations and shapes, including those with rounded edges and transitions of the walls into the bottom;
  • welds well using a heat gun, ensuring reliable sealing.

Made from concrete

Despite the relatively high cost and labor intensity of construction, artificial reservoirs made of monolithic reinforced concrete are the most effective for long-term use. These types of pools can be used for decades, requiring only minimal cosmetic repairs and, in rare cases, replacement of decorative trim.

The cladding is usually ceramic tiles, painted in different colors, allowing installation in the form of patterns or geometric shapes. Also, using tiles in the pool, you can distinguish special zones, the boundaries of which are clearly visible both on the surface and under water.

At the first stage, after preparing and planning the site, as well as laying out the axes of the site, they begin to open a pit using manual labor or special earth-moving machines.

The bottom of the pit is also subject to leveling and leveling. For this, ordinary quartz sand is used. Rolled waterproofing is laid on top of the sand cushion and filled with hot bitumen. Next, the slab is concreted, reinforcing it with a mesh of metal rods. The grade of concrete must be no lower than M300...M450 in the old marking or from B22.5 to B35 in the new classification.

After 10…14 days, vertical formwork is installed on the bottom and concreting of the bowl walls begins. The thickness of the walls of a pool buried 1.5 m into the ground can be from 25 to 30 cm. It is better to reinforce the walls with a vertical mesh installed closer to the edge facing the pit. This is due to the fact that the vertical parts of the artificial reservoir are subject to lateral stresses from the water pressure, and the working fittings must be located on the side opposite to the applied force.

After concreting the walls and setting the concrete, internal waterproofing of the resulting bowl is performed. To do this, roll materials reinforced with fiberglass are used, rolling them overlapping along the bottom and wrapping them on the walls. Melted bitumen or special cold-curing mastics are used as glue.

Another method is to apply several layers of a special thick composition based on artificial rubber. After polymerization, it turns into a seamless, durable rubber-like insert, up to 5 mm thick. When concreting, you must remember to install round foam plastic inserts with a diameter corresponding to the diameter of the pipes in places where utilities are supplied.

Interruptions in concreting walls should not be allowed for more than 5 hours. In this case, the concrete will turn out to be layered with hairline cracks, which will compromise the waterproof properties and structural integrity of the pool.

The formwork can be inventory - plastic, metal, from special formwork plywood, or homemade - from wooden panels knocked together with your own hands.

To save money, you can use an unedged slab board as a formwork material.

Complex reinforcement elements - frames, meshes are made by knitting, when individual parts are tied together with soft knitting wire.

It is strictly not recommended to use electric arc and acetylene welding, since exposure to high temperatures reduces the tensile strength of reinforcing bars and weakens the load-bearing capacity of a reinforced concrete structure.

You can prepare concrete yourself using a concrete mixer installed directly on your summer cottage. But in order to prevent accidental errors with the proportions of the constituent ingredients, it is better to use purchased concrete delivered by special mixer trucks. An additional bonus will be that all responsibility for low-quality concrete (if this happens) will be borne by its seller or supplier.

After dismantling and dismantling the formwork, voids are formed between the concrete and the ground wall of the pit, which are called reverse sinuses. They are covered with sand layer by layer up to the level of the ground surface, watered with water and compacted. Next, a concrete blind area is installed along the perimeter of the pool walls to a width of at least 0.5 m.

In order to avoid accidental injuries, it is lined with ceramic tiles with an anti-slip coating.

In the process of final finishing and tiling the pool with ceramic tiles, it is better to use a special fine-mesh mesh, fiberglass-reinforced mesh. To increase the water resistance of the cladding, the seams between the tiles should be cut and rubbed with silicone mastic.

From cinder block

Cinder block was very often used in the restoration and construction of buildings in the 50s of the 20th century. Then it was completely replaced by silicate (white) brick, which became more widespread. Currently, this material has received a rebirth.

Cinder blocks are now most often used for the construction of secondary buildings - garages, warehouses, summer kitchens, fences. Artificial stones made from cinder concrete are sometimes better than brick for the following reasons:

  • one cinder block, due to its increased size, immediately replaces several bricks, so masonry made from it is simpler than brick;
  • the extensive internal voids of the cinder block improve its heat-shielding properties;
  • technologies for the amateur production of cinder blocks have been developed.

The experience of using cinder blocks for constructing swimming pools at the dacha has shown itself to be positive. The strength of the walls made of this material turned out to be sufficient to withstand the lateral pressure of the poured water.

It should be noted that the masonry should not be made with cement-lime mortar, traditionally used for brick and stone masonry, but with cement-sand mortar. For better adhesion (gluing) of the solution to cinder blocks, plasticizer additives must be added to the solution. These can be polyvinyl acetate emulsion (PVA), acrylic or styrene-based latexes.

Preparation work, excavation, as well as the installation of a horizontal slab - the bottom is carried out in the same way as it is prepared for a reinforced concrete monolithic pool. The walls are laid out to the required height with a thickness of half a cinder block, which is about 20 cm. Horizontal seams should be reinforced with a mesh of rods with a diameter of 6 mm.

Backfilling of the return sinuses should be carried out with a mixture of sand and crushed stone with very careful compaction.

If there are voids in them, one or more cinder concrete blocks under water pressure can be squeezed out of the vertical plane.

The leaked moisture will fall under the bottom and cause uneven subsidence of the soil at the base of the concrete slab with the formation of kinks and cracks in it. Such a pool will most likely be unsuitable for repair and will need to be disassembled and rebuilt.

After the construction of cinder block walls, the inner surface of the resulting bowl requires waterproofing and final finishing. Before using roll waterproofing, it is recommended to use deep penetration impregnation primer to further strengthen and protect cinder blocks and seams.

A swimming pool in the courtyard of a country house or cottage is associated with the luxury and wealth of the owner. This is partly true, but anyone who owns even a small plot can afford their own swimming place.

This will require minimal cash investments, available materials, free time and a simple tool that most summer residents have. How to make a pool with your own hands - read our article.

What available materials can be used as materials for making

When we talk about available materials, we mean materials that can be easily obtained without spending a lot of money. In this case, the final result, except for the appearance, will differ little from the finished products.

Old tire

An old tire from large construction or agricultural equipment is an inexpensive material for building a small pool. It is best to use a combine tire with a diameter of 30-32 inches. This size is enough to set up a pool for one adult or two children.

To find a tire that fits your size, you should contact a tire repair shop, where they will sell an unusable product for a small fee. Large tires are often sold second-hand on the Internet.

Residents of large cities can go to a recycling warehouse, from where old tires are transported to factories for further processing.

Among the advantages of a tire pool are:

  • the width of large tires allows the material to be used for the construction of pool walls;
  • the rounded shape of the tire is ideal for creating a water container;
  • the durable inner carcass of the tire will reliably hold water;
  • the rubber used in the manufacture of the product is not afraid of sudden changes and sub-zero temperatures;
  • the total cost of materials spent for manufacturing is several times lower than when purchasing a finished structure;
  • A tire pool can be easily decorated with paint.

The main disadvantage of such a pool is the total volume of the structure, which is only enough for one, maximum two adults. You won't be able to fully swim or dive in it.

In fact, a pool made of tires will resemble a swimming pool in which you can relax and lie down in comfort after a hot day of work.

Wooden pallets

Wooden pallets are rough plank flooring on a support, used for storing bulk mixtures in bags. The pallet has a convenient design and shape suitable for creating supporting walls of the pool.

The pallets are knocked together in a vertical position, forming the frame of the future pool. The more pallets, the more round the water container will be.

For an average-sized pool, 9–11 pallets will be sufficient. This is enough for a container in which 3-4 people can comfortably sit.

The advantages of a homemade pool made from pallets include the following:

  • the height of the pallet makes it possible to build a large-capacity pool;
  • ease of installation and fastening of stairs, steps, slides for descending into the water;
  • no need to dig a deep foundation pit;
  • easy to dismantle and move to a new location;
  • if necessary, it can be quickly repaired or expanded by adding one or two sections.

Among the disadvantages of such a pool can be noted general instability. It will be necessary to use tie-down straps and supports to strengthen the structure, which must be checked and tightened before each fill of water.

To protect against moisture and natural precipitation, finishing on the outside is required, with further treatment of all wooden elements with an antiseptic.

Gabions

A gabion is a reinforcing structure made from wire mesh. Previously, such products were used to strengthen river banks, preventing their erosion. In construction and gardening they are used to create three-dimensional products of various shapes.

When creating a pool, they are ideal for forming walls. To fill the mesh molds, it is best to use dry stone of various sizes.

The advantages of such a pool include:

  • gabions allow you to create a container of any shape: circle, oval, square, rectangle;
  • solidity and strength of the structure;
  • simple operating technology that allows you to create a pool of any size;
  • original appearance that does not require additional finishing.

The labor costs for constructing this pool are quite high, since it will be necessary to find a sufficient amount of stone and deliver it to the work site. Dismantling is another weak point of the structure, since dismantling the pool will take a lot of time.

Plastic bottles

Plastic containers are constantly used to create garden devices and transfer water around the site. But it can also be used and used to build a swimming pool.

The essence of the method is that a plastic bottle will be placed on cement mortar, forming the walls of the future pool. During installation, the seams and space between the bottles are filled with cement, which will give sufficient strength and tightness to the future structure.

The volume and shape of the container will depend only on the amount of containers that can be found. This is the main disadvantage of this method, since it will require lengthy preparation of the material.

If possible, you can purchase containers in bulk. On average, building a large pool will cost no more than 2.5–3 thousand rubles, not including the cost of cement-sand mixture.

Concrete ring

Concrete rings are used to strengthen the walls of well and sewer shafts. The standard dimensions of a reinforced concrete ring depend on the product labeling. For example, products marked KS-15–9 have a height of 90 cm and a diameter of 150 cm.

The optimal sizes of well rings for building a swimming pool can be seen in the table below. There are rings with a ready-made bottom, which will simplify the process of constructing a pool, since you will not have to pour a concrete base.

The advantages of such a pool include its strength and durability. Concrete walls do not need to be strengthened or treated with a protective compound. The width and depth of the resulting container is quite enough for bathing 2-3 adults.

The only negative is that to deliver the ring to your summer cottage you will need to order large vehicles. A crane is used to unload and transport the pool to the location, which will also require certain costs on the part of the customer.

Metal container

Large metal containers are used for transportation by rail or shipping. You can find them at metal delivery points, where leaky products are often delivered.

This container is well suited for a swimming pool - you just need to weld the resulting cracks. The capacity of the container directly affects the size of the future pool.

As in the case of a well ring, you will need to order special equipment for delivery, unloading and moving the container to a place not prepared in advance. Otherwise, the container is almost identical to ready-made plastic pools. It only requires minor cosmetic repairs and treatment with an anti-corrosion compound.

The inside of the container is coated with waterproof paint or lined with any suitable tile.

Preparation and calculation of the structure

An old tire and wooden pallets are the most affordable materials for creating a pool with your own hands. Based on this, we will calculate the volume of the container based on the overall dimensions and the number of pallets.

As a wheel tire, it is better to use a tire from a BelAZ truck model FT-116AM2 or FT-117M2. These are large tires with a width of 955 mm and a diameter of over 3000 mm.

Other models and their sizes can be seen in the table in the photo below.

To calculate the volume of the future pool, we will use a simple formula: V=π * r 2 * h, where V is the volume of the container in the form of a cylinder, π is a constant value (3.14), r is the radius of the circle, h is the width of the tire.

Let's carry out the calculation for the FT-117M2 tire, the width of which is 1175 mm and the diameter is 3575 mm. The total thickness of the sand-concrete cushion will be 30 cm.

The sequence of calculations is as follows:

  1. According to the initial data, the tire radius will be equal to: 3575 / 2 = 1.7875 mm.
  2. We substitute the data into the formula and calculate the volume of the structure: 3.14 * 1.7875 2 * 1.175 = 13.1899 or 13.19 m 3.
  3. Similar steps to calculate the volume of sand and cement: 3.14 * 1.7875 2 * 0.15 = 1.6838 or 1.68 m3.

Other finishing materials are selected individually according to taste and the design project, if one was drawn up earlier.

Wooden pallets are produced in accordance with GOST and have dimensions of 800×1200 mm. Knowing the dimensions of the pallet, you can calculate the volume of a pool of almost any shape. Since we advised using 9 or more pallets, we will carry out the calculation for a pool in the shape of a hexagon.

To do this, we will use the standard formula for calculating volume: V - S o * h, where S o is the base area, and h is the height of the pallet. The formula for the area of a nonagon: S o = 6.18182 * a 2 , where a is the side of the nonagon, which in our case is equal to the height of the pallet.

The sequence of calculations is as follows:

  1. We calculate the area of the base: 6.18182 * 1.2 2 = 14.8363.
  2. Pool volume: 14.8363 * 0.8 = 11.869 m3.

If the pallets are arranged in height, then instead of 1.2 m, 0.8 m should be substituted in the first formula. We do the same with the second formula. In this case, the pool will be deeper, but slightly smaller in diameter.

Tools and accessories

To build a pool from an old tire you will need the following tools:

  • A sharp knife with a strong blade.
  • Shovel and bayonet shovel.
  • Container for mixing cement-sand mixture.
  • Construction mixer or drill with appropriate attachment.
  • Tape measure and bubble level.

To mix a large volume of mortar, it is better to use a concrete mixer. This will significantly speed up the work process.

To build a pool from pallets you will need the following:

  • Hammer and screwdriver.
  • Jigsaw, plane and sander.
  • Pliers, screws and nails.
  • Shovel and bayonet shovel.
  • Containers for sand, cement and water.
  • Tape measure, square and pencil.

A jigsaw can be replaced with a regular wood hacksaw, and a grinder can be replaced with sandpaper. This will have virtually no effect on the final result.

How to make a pool from a tire

Before carrying out work, it is necessary to carry out initial clearing of the site. You will need to remove old foliage, branches, uproot sprouting bushes, etc. To carry the tire to the work site, you will need the help of a partner.

The sequence of constructing a pool from a large tire is as follows:

  1. Turn the tire on its side. Using a knife, you need to cut out the side part around the circumference. When making a cut, follow the markings on the tire. This will simplify the cutting process and allow you to get a cut with a smooth edge. It is not recommended to use a grinder, as the rubber will quickly turn into crumbs and stick to the disc.
  2. Next, the site is prepared for the arrangement of sand flooring. This can be done in two ways. In the first case, we remove a layer of soil to a depth of 25–30 cm. The base area should be slightly larger than the diameter of the tire. Carefully level the base of the pit and fill it with fine-grained sand. The thickness of the layer is 15 cm. Then lightly moisten the sand with a small amount of water and compact it with a shovel.
  3. In the second case, there is no need to dig a hole. It is enough to level the area of land on which the sand will be poured. Further compaction technology is similar. We recommend using the first method, since a similar method is used for the construction of blind areas and allows you to create a more durable foundation.
  4. A layer of concrete mortar at least 15 cm thick will need to be poured onto the compacted sand. For this, ready-made mixtures of grade M300 and higher are used. When mixing independently, the proportion of cement to sand is 1:3. The amount of water affects the ease of installation and distribution of the solution.
  5. While the solution is wet, you need to move the tire to the pouring site. After installation, the tire is slightly pressed into the solution. Another 2-3 buckets of the mixture should be poured into the void between the concrete solution and the tire.
  6. You can start decorating the pool and wait for the mixture to dry. After 14 days, the concrete layer will gain 80% of its strength. Complete drying of concrete occurs within 25–28 days.

To decorate such a pool, exterior paint, decorative stone, and pieces of tile are used. Before pouring water, it is better to coat the inner surface of the tire with waterproof paint.

Arrangement of a swimming pool from plastic bottles

In addition to cement and sand, to create a pool from bottles you will need to prepare wooden boards, small blocks and gravel. The size of the bar is 25×50 mm. Gravel fraction - 5/20. The length of the board should be equal to the length of the base where the sand and gravel cushion will be poured.

The sequence of actions for creating a pool from bottles is as follows:

  1. The selected area should be cleared of debris and branches. Next, you will need to remove the top layer of turf and dig a pit to a depth of 30 cm. The dimensions of the pit should be larger than the pool by 20–30 cm on each side. For example, for a pool with sides of three meters, a pit measuring 330x330 cm is suitable.
  2. The formwork is being installed. To do this, the bars should be sharpened at the end using an ax. A block is nailed to the board every 100–120 cm. A metal corner for furniture is used to fasten the boards into a frame. For example, a corner marked 40*40*16 is suitable.
  3. The formwork is installed in a dug pit. The base of the dug recess is leveled and lightly compacted. If necessary, the ground can be treated with an antiseptic to kill weeds. Afterwards, a layer of sand and gravel 12–15 cm thick is backfilled.
  4. If there is no gravel, then you will need to lay a reinforcing mesh assembled from reinforcement bars. To do this, the rods are knitted using ordinary wire. The frame is installed so that the reinforcement does not touch the sand. Installation on pre-laid stone or brick is allowed.
  5. Before pouring concrete, the location of the drain hole should be provided. It is better to use a ready-made product for draining water. The pipe is attached to the fittings. During the pouring process, it will need to be straightened relative to the upper plane.
  6. The concrete solution is being poured.

    In this case, it is better to use a concrete mixer, since large foundations will require 1.5–2 m 3 of concrete. During the pouring process, the concrete must be compacted with a wooden lath or shovel.

  7. After pouring the base, you should wait at least 14–18 days and only then begin laying the walls of the pool. For masonry, you will need to pull the mooring cord, fixing it on bricks and any other material. The thread is stretched strictly along the perimeter of the future pool.
  8. The cement-sand mortar is laid out along a stretched guideline. A plastic container filled with sand is placed on top of the fresh solution. The bottles are tied together with wire with a cross-section of 3 mm. The work process is similar to bricklaying. Laying the first row continues until the base of all four walls is completed. Then they move on to laying the second and subsequent rows. The optimal wall height is 100–150 cm.

Upon completion of the work, it is necessary to finish the interior of the pool. To do this, all cracks and voids are covered with cement mixture until a smooth surface is formed. If the cement layer is more than 3 cm, then it is better to use a reinforcing mesh, which is attached to the bottom of the bottle using self-tapping screws.

The front side of the pool walls is finished in a similar way. Waterproof paint for swimming pools is used as a protective and decorative coating for interior walls, which is applied with a roller in 1–2 layers. After painting you should wait at least 5 days.

Instructions for creating a pool from pallets with your own hands

To create a pool from pallets, you will need to purchase wood antiseptic, PVC film and a drain pipe of any convenient shape.

The process of constructing such a pool consists of the following steps:

  1. Wooden pallets need to be treated with an antiseptic or antifungal impregnation 1-2 times.
  2. Depending on the shape of the pool, it is necessary to dig a hole 30 cm deep. We carried out calculations for a pool of 9 pallets, then the hole will have a round shape. The size of the pit should be slightly larger than the diameter of the pool itself.
  3. A layer of gravel with a fraction of 5/20 should be poured into the bottom of the pit and distributed evenly over the surface. The layer thickness is no more than 20 cm. Next, the frame of the future container is assembled inside the pit. The pallets are mounted with the plank flooring inside. Metal corners, boards and self-tapping screws are used for connections.
  4. The drain pipe is being installed. To do this, a hole is cut in the frame, through which a pipe is threaded, draining outward. Afterwards it is necessary to strengthen the structure with 2-3 tightening straps.
  5. Wooden wedges made from blocks are driven in around the circumference every 30–50 cm. This will further strengthen the structure. A layer of concrete mixture 10–15 cm thick is poured. A rule is used for leveling.
  6. The concrete layer will dry in 25–28 days, but further work can be carried out within 10–14 days from the moment of pouring. To cover the inner surface, PVC film is used, which is fixed in the upper part of the pallet.

The exterior of the pool can be lined using particle boards or moisture-resistant plywood.

In summer it is always nice to swim in cool water. However, it may not always be possible to go to a river or lake. In this case, the best solution would be to build a swimming pool with your own hands at the dacha or on the territory of a private house. So, you will always have your own body of water at hand, near which you can have a great time and relax. In this article we will look at how to build a swimming pool with your own hands.

Features and types of pools

There are many variations on the theme of pools for a summer house or country house. But they can be conceptually divided into several main types.

Inflatable pools. Let's start with the simplest option. Its main advantage is its low cost and ease of installation. In addition, this model is mobile.

When packed and assembled, it can easily fit into the trunk of a car. This means that you can take it with you outdoors, use it for a bathhouse, or simply install this pool in your house with your own hands without any problems.

Among modern models in this category you can find containers of various sizes- from mini-pools for summer cottages like children’s “paddling pools” to large inflatable structures that are designed for 10 tons of water or more.

The disadvantages primarily include fragility of inflatable pools: They wear out in just a few years. And also one cannot help but mention their vulnerability to various types of mechanical influences.

Frame pools

They are also quite simple designs. Their main advantages include mobility and high installation speed, which, in principle, is characteristic of any prefabricated structures. At the same time, they are more resistant to mechanical damage, unlike inflatable ones. However, an inflatable pool will cost owners much less than a frame one. At the same time, the service life of these pools is, by and large, also limited, like every mobile structure.

Portable swimming pools for saunas

These structures consist of a PVC cover, walls and bottom. Taking into account the depth, they can simply be located on a flat surface - depth up to 0.8 m, partially - up to 1.3 meters, or completely (more than 1.6 m) deep into the ground.

Their the shape can be absolutely any, but, as a rule, there is an oval, round, figure-eight shape. If these structures have a square or rectangular shape, then their corners are certainly rounded.

Such pools are good because they easy to install(especially those that don’t need to be deepened) and easy to connect. Their disadvantage is the tightness of the connecting seams. However, if you purchase a bath pool from a trusted company, it will serve you well for many years.

Stationary pools

We need to start with the obvious disadvantages of these designs: of all varieties, they are the most expensive- in terms of not only the construction of the pool, but also its further maintenance.

But that's where all the shortcomings end. Since stationary outdoor pools are fundamental structure, so to speak, for centuries.

Stationary pools can have a concrete bowl or a ready-made one. A concrete bowl allows the owner to build any kind of pool at home, even the most bizarre shape. At the same time, pool bowls made of composite materials greatly facilitate the process of arranging a pool on the site.

Choosing a location and optimal size

Since it is the stationary pool that is considered “real,” then in the future the conversation will focus on this design. So, when you have decided on the type, you need to think about the size and installation location of the artificial reservoir itself. For the most part, the choice of location will depend on the wishes of the owner. As a rule, a pool is installed close to the recreation area, near the bathhouse, behind the house. But when choosing a location, certain factors must be taken into account:

  • The presence of nearby vegetation. It is advisable that there are no bushes, much less trees, near the reservoir. Plants are constantly drawn to moisture, and their root system is very strong and can easily break through a concrete thicket.
  • Direction of the wind. Since this garden pool is outdoors, there is a high probability of all kinds of debris getting into it. To ensure that while swimming you do not encounter dry leaves, scraps of paper, etc., it is better if the pool is located in an area protected from the prevailing wind direction.
  • Priming. A lot depends on the properties of the soil. To begin with, it is desirable that the soil be clayey. In this case, you will additionally receive natural waterproofing. And also during the construction of a stationary bowl, you will need to dig a pit. When the soil at the chosen location is rocky, then excavation work can be very labor-intensive and complex, especially if you build a pool with your own hands in the country without the help of special equipment.

When it comes to the size of the future reservoir, in this case there are no special requirements. It will depend according to your preferences and availability of free space. For example, for swimming in one lane, a width of 2.5 m and a length of four meters is sufficient. When two paths are planned, the width can be increased to 5 meters.

The optimal depth of the reservoir is 1.5 meters. But even in this case, everything depends on the purposes for which you are building it. When you have children and the main purpose of the pool is to entertain them, you don’t need to make it very deep. And vice versa, when you are a diving enthusiast, depth plays an important role.

Construction stages

By and large, the process of building a swimming pool at the dacha is divided into the following stages:

As you can see, there is quite a lot of construction work. Moreover, any of the stages is very important, since not only the appearance of the entire structure, but also the operating time depends on it.

Bowl creation and excavation work

Let's move on directly to the main question - how to make a pool at the dacha with your own hands. If you have decided on the installation location and dimensions, then you can begin excavation work. First to the site apply markings. What can you use a rope stretched over pegs for?

Then we begin excavation work. This is the most labor-intensive stage during construction. You need dig a pit required depth and size. Moreover, it must be taken into account that the depth, length and width need to be approximately 50 cm larger.

This additional space is required for the installation of formwork. When the dimensions of the structure you have planned are very impressive, then you need to think about using special equipment.

Then, when the pit is dug, you can start creating the bowl. This stage of work includes the following activities:

  1. The walls and bottom of the pit are thoroughly compacted.
  2. A sand cushion is made. For this purpose, a layer of sand 25–40 cm thick is poured onto the bottom and carefully compacted.
  3. A layer of waterproofing is applied over the entire surface of the walls and on top of the pillow at the bottom. Now on the market you can see many materials that are an excellent barrier to water. The most cost-effective option is to use bitumen mass and roofing felt. These materials have proven themselves well and have been used for a long time.
  4. First, a layer of roofing material is laid over the entire surface (on the walls and bottom, while the walls must be covered with material up to the very top). Afterwards, several (preferably 4–5) layers of bitumen mass are applied.
  5. The next step is the installation of the drainage system. This must be done before installing the formwork. How many holes to make for draining and in what place depends on the shape and size of the bowl.
  6. Then we build the formwork, it can be made from scrap materials, and we begin pouring concrete. Moreover, it is imperative to use reinforcement.
  7. The formwork is removed after the concrete mass has hardened.

Lighting and decoration

Then you need to finish the bowl. But first you need additional apply a layer of waterproofing.

You also need to seal all the cracks that have formed so that water does not seep in and damage the bowl. To do this, you can use mastic, film or impregnating materials.

After installing the waterproofing, finishing work begins. As a rule, it is used to cover the bowl. tile. This material can easily withstand prolonged exposure to water, is very easy to clean and has an attractive appearance.

In addition to tiles, you can also use modern materials, for example, PVC film. Today, manufacturers produce a huge range of this material. It is durable and strong. At this point, the construction of the pool is actually completed.

In artificial reservoirs, water becomes polluted quite quickly and can be a favorable environment for the appearance of harmful bacteria. At the same time, dust, tree branches and fallen leaves constantly get into the outdoor pool.

For small pools you can build a lid, which will keep most of the debris out. Small particles that fall into the reservoir can be easily removed using a fine-mesh net. Algae that has formed on the walls clean with a soft bristle brush.

The water in this pool is desirable replace at least once a week. For example, use it to water the garden. The following methods are used to purify water in large pools:

  • Electrophysical disinfection - the use of equipment for saturating water with silver ions and ozonizers. Ultraviolet lamps can be used to filter and purify water; they disinfect water by killing mold spores and microbes.
  • Chemical treatment - performed using special substances. As a result, the pH level is normalized and the water is disinfected. The action of chemicals prevents the appearance of algae and eliminates the smallest particles of fat.

The simplest way to purify water is a water filter. There are three types of systems with varying degrees of filtration. Sand filter based on finely crushed quartz, removes harmful microparticles up to 25 microns in size.

Cartridge filters suitable for medium-sized artificial reservoirs with a diameter of no more than five meters. These filters are equipped with a special valve to get rid of small debris and a water purification system from harmful elements up to 15 microns in size.

Diatomite filters- These are highly efficient and modern water purification systems. Fossil powder, kieselguhr, mountain flour, etc. are used as a cleaning agent. These particles remove the smallest elements up to one micrometer in size.

Bromine-based preparations are safer and do not have a distinct odor. Cleansing with active oxygen is the most convenient and at the same time completely safe for health. The drug is added to the water immediately after filling the pool, taking into account the total volume of liquid.
