I'm pregnant - what should I do? Step-by-step instruction. What not to do in early pregnancy What not to do during pregnancy

The expectant mother has a special responsibility to the child, it is her lifestyle that will directly affect the health of the baby. And for the birth of a healthy baby, you need to understand what is possible and what cannot be done by pregnant women for nine months.

In this case, you will have to change your habits, and in general, your lifestyle. When you find out about your pregnancy, you will immediately receive a lot of advice from acquaintances, friends and relatives. But many of these tips will be completely useless and groundless. For example, my grandmother is absolutely sure that pregnant women should not look at blacks. And there is a huge amount of such useless advice. Let's figure out what actually can not be done to pregnant women and why.

What not to eat when pregnant

Coffee and strong tea. These are diuretics - they remove water and calcium from the body, in addition, they increase blood pressure.

Meat and fish products that have not undergone heat treatment. The use of such products significantly increases the likelihood of poisoning or infection with helminths (worms). It is worth giving up sushi, pates and other dishes from raw fish and meat that are not subjected to sufficient heat treatment.

Raw eggs. Eating raw eggs or products containing them (raw dough, homemade mayonnaise, etc.) can lead to salmonellosis.

Raw shellfish. High risk of food poisoning.

Unpasteurized milk. High chance of poisoning.

Cheeses made from unpasteurized milk. Soft and moldy cheeses can cause food poisoning.

Carbonated drinks. Gas interferes with the work of the intestines, causing it to bloat. And sugary carbonated drinks often contain the sweetener aspartame, which leads to diabetes not only in adults, but also in undeveloped fetuses. The presence of phosphoric acid in such drinks can cause gallstones and kidney stones. Colors and flavors in such drinks can provoke an allergic reaction.

Store juices. Do not buy ready-made juices that you are not sure about, they may contain sweeteners and colors that cause allergies. It is best if you prepare the juice yourself.

Mushrooms. Mushrooms are useful, but there is a possibility of poisoning, in addition, they are difficult to digest and absorb all kinds of salts and heavy metals well.

Bad habits of a pregnant woman

Why shouldn't pregnant women smoke?

Cigarette smoke is saturated with many toxic, poisonous and carcinogenic components that instantly penetrate the blood supply system and harm the fetus.

Why shouldn't pregnant women drink alcohol?

Ethanol enters the placenta unhindered and enters the fetal blood supply, which can cause congenital malformations.

Why shouldn't pregnant women sleep on their backs?

From the second trimester, refuse to sleep on your back. The enlarged uterus in this position puts pressure on the abdominal aorta, the blood circulation of the fetus and the lower body worsens.

What not to wear while pregnant

Why can't pregnant women wear thongs?

They have a bad effect on the microflora, as a result of which various kinds of infections can occur.

The load on the spine increases, posture changes, and heels increase the load on the spine, in addition, because of them, you can lose balance.

Why should pregnant women not wear jeans and tight clothes?

It impairs blood circulation and creates discomfort.

What kind of physical activity can not be pregnant

Sports activities are not prohibited unless there are medical contraindications. Rather, on the contrary, it is necessary to play sports in order to get in shape after childbirth, but this applies to women who played sports before pregnancy. If you want to improve your physical fitness after pregnancy, it is better to start fitness for pregnant women.

Why can't pregnant women sit cross-legged or squat?

The uterus is clamped and the blood circulation of the fetus worsens, varicose veins may occur.

Why can't pregnant women put pressure on their stomach?

Decreased fetal circulation .

Why is stress on the back harmful to pregnant women?

The spine of a pregnant woman is already extremely loaded, and additional loads on the spine can injure it.

Why shouldn't pregnant women overwork?

Due to the increased load on the heart and kidneys of the mother, severe overwork can create a risk of miscarriage.

Why can't pregnant women sit in one position for a long time?

May lead to blood clots.

Why shouldn't pregnant women lift weights?

There is a risk of miscarriage.

Why are pregnant women banned from extreme sports?

High chance of injury. Adrenaline intake can affect blood flow to the placenta.

Why shouldn't pregnant women wash their hands?

Can lead to overwork, places a high strain on the back, and prolonged contact with detergents can affect the health of the fetus.

Why can't pregnant women take a bath?

High temperature significantly increases the load on the heart, there is a threat of miscarriage.

What procedures can not be done during pregnancy

What vaccines should not be given to pregnant women?

It is easier to answer which vaccinations can be given to pregnant women, these include vaccinations against:

  • influenza
  • anthrax
  • poliomyelitis
  • encephalitis
  • rabies
  • yellow fever

Other vaccinations can cause severe allergies and other complications.

Working with household chemicals

Toxins and other harmful substances easily dissolve in the blood, penetrating through the lungs and skin, which has a detrimental effect on the body of the mother and her unborn child.

Destroy insects with chemicals

Use cosmetics with hormones and vitamins

An excess of certain vitamins and hormones in pregnant women can lead to deformities and various diseases of the unborn child.

Why shouldn't pregnant women dye their hair?

Harmful substances and toxins enter the body of a woman through breathing and skin.

What medicines can not be pregnant?

The choice of medicines must be approached very scrupulously, you can not take medicines and vitamins without the approval of a doctor. Many drugs are harmful to the life and health of the unborn child.

Why can't pregnant women do x-rays and fluorography?

Can affect the development of the nascent nervous system, heart, weaken the immune system and can lead to blood disorders, especially in the first trimester.

Places to avoid during pregnancy

Why are pregnant women not allowed to stay in hospitals?

In such places, a large number of people with infectious diseases are concentrated.

Why should pregnant women not be in crowded places?

There is a danger of catching easily transmitted infectious diseases.

Why can't pregnant women be in kindergartens?

Children have an underdeveloped immune system, which is why there are so many children with colds in kindergartens, because of the risk of infection, such places are best avoided.

Why can't pregnant women go to the solarium?

The body during pregnancy begins to produce more melanin, due to which pigment spots may appear in women, and exposure to ultraviolet radiation will only exacerbate the problem. And after giving birth, you have to fight with. Therefore, when you go out in the sun, try to use sunscreen.

Why can't pregnant women fly on an airplane?

Pressure fluctuations and low oxygen levels can lead to preterm labor, and constant sedentary activity can lead to blood clots. In addition, in the event of an emergency on board the aircraft, there will be no one to provide qualified assistance, and some carriers refuse services to women.

Why pregnant women should not be in contact with animals

Cats. Cats themselves are not dangerous, leave the cleaning of the cat litter to someone else so as not to get toxoplasmosis.

Any street animal. They can be sick and contagious.

Wild animals. May cause injury.

Undesirable mental conditions of pregnant women

Stress and depression. They increase the amount of hormones in the blood that affect the functioning of the liver and placenta, which can lead to diabetes and disorders in the heart.

Heavy psychological programs and films. Can lead to stress, and high levels of cortisol can lead to early labor.

Conflict situations. They lead to stress.

What is impossible for pregnant women - folk signs

Pregnant women should not play with cats and take them in their arms. The baby will have many enemies.

Pregnant women should not be notified of pregnancy early. In order not to jinx or hide this news from evil spirits that are dangerous for the child.

Pregnant women should not be told the due date. A woman in labor will suffer for every person who knows about it.

Pregnant women should not sit on the doorstep. The threshold is the border with another world, near it it is most difficult to defend yourself from evil forces.

Pregnant women should not eat red berries. The baby will have a ruddy face.

Pregnant women should not eat fish. The baby will be dumb.

Pregnant women should not knit and sew. The baby gets tangled up in the umbilical cord.

Pregnant women should not cut their hair. Shortens the life of a child.

Pregnant women should not eat in secret. The kid will be shy.

Pregnant women should not buy things for the baby before birth. Pre-purchased things do not yet belong to the baby, so evil spirits can move into it.

Pregnant women should not go to funerals. The baby still does not have a guardian angel who will protect them from evil spirits.

All of the above is not a categorical prohibition, you can eat and drink whatever you want, just stick to reasonable limits, and many situations cannot be avoided with all your will, but to minimize the risks, you need to know about these undesirable situations.

Very often women call me with such questions: “I found out that I am pregnant, where do I start? What to do? Where to run? What to take? I decided that it was easier to write a detailed short guide than to tell everything all over again.

This article is your quick guide to a new country for you - "pregnancy". It is then that you will study everything that is possible and will be perfectly oriented in all signs and states. In the meantime, I give you quick, concise advice - what to do, what to quit, what to eat and drink, what vitamins to take and others.

So, the first 15 steps:

First - Take a pregnancy test and donate blood for hCG

At the first suspicions, we do a pregnancy test, start doing it no earlier than 1-2 weeks of delay in menstruation. Previously, he may not show anything.

If in doubt, you can donate blood to the hormone secreted by the fetal egg - chorioganadotropin (hCG).

It is IMPORTANT not to do an ultrasound to determine pregnancy!

For some reason, it immediately seems to everyone that they need to run for an ultrasound scan and get registered. This is not true!

Ultrasound - a very strong effect on the fetus, and it can be done no earlier than 12 weeks.

To make sure that you are pregnant, it is enough to donate blood for hCG. This is a very accurate analysis and no interference with the development of the fetus.

Second - Tell your husband and family

After you make sure that you are pregnant, you can tell your husband and family about your happiness. If the pregnancy is unplanned, be patient and delicate.

Tell your husband first, preferably in writing, leave a note in the morning, write that you are pregnant and discuss everything in the evening. Give him time to recover from this news. Then you can tell your family.

Who to tell is up to you. But many girls do this - up to 3-4 months they tell only the most - the closest, and there they already tell everyone.

I think that this is a completely justified decision, the first trimester is usually the most important and difficult for both the baby and you.

Third -Change the pace of life

Of course, pregnancy will require you to change your rhythm and lifestyle. First of all, exhale and relax.

100% of all expectant mothers feel tension, fear and insecurity in the first days of pregnancy. And this is natural, do not blame yourself for this.

You are on the verge of big changes and you don’t know yet whether you will cope with them or not. But you still have 9 months to get used to it.

Although I know from experience feelings of future motherhood will come in the second trimester, and when you feel the first movements of the child, you will understand how strong the feeling of motherhood is in you, and how natural this process is.

In the meantime slow down your pace- Try to rest more and more often. There is a minute - sit down, or better yet lie down.

I often hear, but how to relax - it’s still scheduled - there’s not a minute, where to get the time from. The answer is simple and at the same time very complex - discard EVERYTHING that is superfluous. And what is not superfluous - sleep, food, water.

Everything else can be discarded or postponed: a cafe with a girlfriend, phone calls, work, household chores, movies, books, shopping. Be patient until the 2nd trimester, it will be easier there, and you can make up for everything.

Moreover, your body will help you with this, in the first trimester, all mothers complain of very high fatigue and a constant desire to sleep.

Fourth - Immediately stop smoking and drinking alcohol

As soon as they found out about the pregnancy, immediately stop smoking, drinking alcohol even in small doses, even wine and beer. The consequences can be completely unpredictable.

Every day of the first trimester, a lot of work is going on, the cells of the embryo divide at an incredible speed, the foundation of all organs, systems, cells and tissues is laid. Any intervention in this process can cause great harm.

Fifth - Stop taking medications and any treatment

If you are taking any medications, are undergoing or are about to undergo treatment - stop immediately.

Go to your doctor in the antenatal clinic and tell us what drugs you are taking, the doctor will change the method of treatment.

Any ailment during pregnancy you will not treat the way you used to do it, so if you feel signs of a cold, do not run for fervex or aspirin.

Most drugs should not be taken during pregnancy!

Check out the section , you can find there the answer to the question of whether it is possible to take this or that medicine during pregnancy.

Sixth - Start listening carefully to yourself

Pregnancy is a time when you hear your inner voice more clearly than ever. He protects you from everything harmful and dangerous.

Listen to everything he says unconditionally.

Pulls to wrap up warmer - do it, regardless of the opinions of others. Pulls to sleep - run to perform. Suddenly, a person or a whole family became unpleasant, the smell - well, you will return to them after childbirth.

Keep and protect your body like a temple!

Seventh - Stop playing sports

If you were involved in any sports before pregnancy, stop all activities. (Including running, cycling, horseback riding, tennis, hiking, aerobics, fitness, gym classes and of course all professional sports.)

During pregnancy, you can dance (all dances except sports), do gymnastics for pregnant women, swim, do some yoga asanas.

Eighth - Start taking folic acid

In the first trimester, it is very important to take folic acid, since it is she who will lay the foundation for the proper development and formation of the brain and the entire nervous system of the baby.

However, I advise you to take folic acid not in tablets, as is common practice, but only from food sources.

The fact is that, according to recent studies, artificially synthesized folic acid tablets do not have the desired positive effect, their activity and strength fluctuate within 10% of the power that simple spinach can give.

In addition, American scientists have proven the relationship between taking pills containing folic acid and the occurrence of breast cancer at the age of 40-50.

We will talk in more detail about natural and artificial vitamins in the section on nutrition, where a separate block of articles will be devoted to this.

So, you will receive folic acid only from greens and vegetables, taking into account the fact that you need to receive at least 400 mcg per day.

The content of folic acid in products of plant origin:

Product How to eat?
Mash, raw
Lentils, raw In the form of sprouts, adding to salads
Beans, raw In the form of sprouts, adding to salads
Sprouted wheat (germs) In sprouts, adding to a cocktail, to salads

What recipes can I use to saturate yourself and your baby with folic acid?

- So, the very first thing is a green cocktail with spinach (1-2 bunches) and wheat sprouts (greens) (daily 0.5-1 liter). Alternating spinach with parsley every 2-3 days.

- Freshly squeezed juice from carrots and beets (daily 0.2-0.5 liters)

- Salads with bean sprouts, mung bean, green peas (only raw, not canned), cauliflower and white cabbage, tomato.

Ninth - Include calcium-rich foods in your diet

Calcium in the body is not only the material that makes up human bone tissue - the skeleton, teeth, bones, and so on. Calcium is involved in a huge number of processes in the body, more than 179 body functions are known for which calcium is responsible.

Calcium affects:

  • for the work of all human muscles
  • affects the functioning of the heart muscle and the regulation of heart rate
  • is one of the blood clotting factors
  • participates in the formation of anti-allergic defense of the body
  • relieves pain syndrome
  • exhibits anti-inflammatory action
  • affects immune processes
  • normalizes the function of the endocrine glands
  • involved in the transmission of nerve impulses

In the body of a pregnant woman, a lack of calcium increases the risk of miscarriage and premature birth, hypertension and the development of other complications - eclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, etc.

It is clear that calcium is necessary for a person not only during pregnancy, but also in everyday life. Your norm per day is 1500 mg of calcium per day.

However, contrary to popular belief, calcium cannot be obtained with pills, supplements, calcium cannot be obtained from water, milk, cheese, sour cream, etc..

According to recent studies, calcium in water, tablets, mineral supplements is inorganic calcium that is not absorbed by the body, moreover, it is deposited in various parts of the body, causing a lot of problems.

Milk, cheese, sour cream not only do not add calcium, but also wash it out of the bones.

You can read more about calcium in these two articles:

So, you should get your calcium intake from these products:

Tenth - Include foods containing iodine in your diet

Iodine during pregnancy is very important, as it affects the functioning of the thyroid gland, which provides the body with hormones.

The first 4 weeks, both you and the baby develop and live off your hormones (mother's hormones), which are intensively produced by the thyroid gland, at 16 weeks, the placenta comes to the rescue.

Therefore, the first 3 months you need to ensure that iodine enters the body daily at least 250 mg.

The daily share of iodine will provide you with seaweed, it contains from 500 to 3000 mg of iodine per 100 grams of product.

You can eat it both as a salad and dried, soaking it and adding it to ready-made vegetable salads.

Eleventh - H don't take any vitamins!

Recent studies involving more than 15,000 pregnant women have not confirmed the benefit of taking vitamins.

It was proved that vitamins are medicines, not a food supplement, they should be taken only if, according to the results of the analysis, it was found out that some vitamin is missing, they were prescribed - they drank it and that's it.

You can’t just “drank them on drink” for health, many of them are of no benefit, some are simply not absorbed, and some are harmful.

Vitamins must be obtained from food.

Your vitamins for all 9 months are vegetables, fruits and greens:

We will talk in detail about nutrition, I will write many important articles on this topic, because by changing your diet, you are able to restore yourself completely, get rid of diseases, complications, and prevent all unnecessary diseases in your baby's future.

Above is everything you need to eat to fill the body with folic acid, calcium, iodine and vitamins. Feel free to take the listed products, make up your diet from them.

But remember a few golden rules of nutrition:

  1. No need to eat for two, the child has enough. No need to increase the amount of food significantly. The phrase "eat for two" is not true! Eat as the body asks, but do not indulge all your desires excessively. If your pregnancy is accompanied by nausea and vomiting (vomiting no more than 3-4 times a day and you are not losing weight - this is normal) and you eat almost nothing, do not be afraid, this will not harm the child, he is still developing at the expense of your reserves.
  2. Your diet should consist of: 80% vegetables, fruits and greens.
  3. Fruits and berries should be eaten separately from any other food and preferably in the morning.
  4. Every day in your diet should be a lot of greens. 0.5-1 liter of green smoothie is the key to your happiness and health before - during - and after pregnancy.
  5. Vegetables should only be eaten raw, as they lose most of their vitamins when cooked.
  6. Eliminate animal protein from your diet, this includes meat, fish, poultry, eggs, milk and all milk products.
  7. Do not drink water / juice / tea and other liquids during meals and immediately after. Drink a glass of pure water 20 minutes before a meal or 1 hour after a meal.
  8. Do not lean on sweet and starchy foods, such as cookies, rolls, bread, sweets, gingerbread, etc. Instead, try eating sweet or dried fruit, or in extreme cases, pure chocolate.
  9. Stop drinking carbonated juices and drinks: cola, fanta and all the like. Read the label, there is nothing natural except water, the rest are chemical compounds that you will never digest, but only spend the body's strength to remove them. In addition, all carbonated drinks forcefully leach calcium from your bones, teeth and nails, as well as your baby's bones.
  10. Stop eating canned food, sausages, jams, pates, minced meat. Every canned product contains a lot of chemicals, and no one knows how all this will affect you.
  11. Forget about the microwave, it destroys not only all the useful vitamins, but also changes the chemical composition of the food!
  12. Avoid excessive salt intake, or better yet, avoid it altogether. This step will help save your kidneys and prevent pregnancy complications such as high blood pressure, preeclampsia, and eclampsia.
  13. Herbs, herbal tinctures and infusions are also medicines, so do not take them just like that without clear recommendations. For example, nettle has the strongest effect - it causes contractions, which is useful only after childbirth, in order to remove the afterbirth and everything superfluous from the uterus, but not during pregnancy.

Thirteenth - Drink water!

Drink 1.5-2 liters of water daily. Please watch this very carefully. In ordinary life, we hardly drink a glass, mostly tea, coffee, juices, soups, but not water.

However, all drinks, pure water stern is food for our body.

Only water is immediately absorbed into the blood, diluting it, helps carry oxygen, and all substances to cells.

With a reduced amount of water in the bloodstream (if you drink a glass a day), under a microscope, you can see that the erythrocytes stick together and “swim” not one at a time, but in a chain. In this form, red blood cells do not carry enough oxygen.

Because one red blood cell must be surrounded by oxygen, if it sticks together with others, it simply does not have free space where oxygen atoms could attach.

At the same time, the blood thickens, the blood flow slows down, organs and tissues suffer from hypoxia. We feel weakness, headache, fatigue, lethargy.

During pregnancy, water is infinitely important., not only does your blood volume increase by 40%, but water is also needed in order to fill the baby’s pool (amniotic sac), to constantly clean it and renew water in it, because the mother’s body takes everything out for itself and for the baby .

Therefore, carry a bottle of water with you everywhere and train yourself to drink as much as possible.

Water sometimes works just wonders - if you have a cold, you can only drink pure water all day and nothing more, the disease disappears completely in 1-2 days, if you are tired after some kind of exercise - increase the amount of water the next day, you will recover in 3-5 times faster.

In the beginning, I know from my own experience, I don’t feel like drinking water, I hardly drink one glass. Everything is drawn to something sweet, carbonated. But time passes (5-10 days) and you feel that you don’t want anything but water.

Fourteenth - Register

Next, you need to find a place where you will take tests and where you will be given all the necessary documents (sick leave, exchange card). This can be a Women's Consultation or any paid clinic that has a state license to provide "obstetrics and gynecology" services.

In the LCD, all tests will be done for free, but this, perhaps, is where the benefits end. In a paid clinic, there are fewer queues, more attention to you, better equipment. It will be convenient to visit a doctor for a period of 12 weeks, then it will be possible to do an examination and do an ultrasound.

That's all you need for now! If you have any questions, doubts, please write in the comments to this article, I will be happy to answer you.

Pregnancy is a state of mind, body and health of the whole organism. This is a wonderful and unforgettable period in the life of any woman, however, and quite vulnerable. Therefore, the expectant mother should not be vigilant and should be aware of what is strictly forbidden for her in these 9 months of pot-bellied happiness.

Alcohol

The effect of alcohol on the fetus is well researched. Ethanol easily penetrates through the placenta immediately into the blood of the fetus, causing congenital deformities. Facial anomalies, microcephaly (underdevelopment of the brain), physical underdevelopment, anomalies in the development of organs - these are the dangers of drinking alcohol, especially in the first trimester.

Smoking

Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, which reacts with hemoglobin and replaces part of the oxygen during gas exchange. As a result, both the mother and the fetus experience a lack of oxygen. Intrauterine hypoxia is fraught with developmental delay, problems with the cardiovascular system, and reduced immunity. Smoking during pregnancy can cause placental abruption, pregnancy failure, and even premature birth. Nicotine can also affect the psyche of the unborn child.

Coffee

Excess caffeine is believed to overstretch the cardiovascular system in the mother and fetus, cause anxiety, and can even lead to miscarriage or premature birth. But here we must make a reservation that all this is true if you drink more than 3 cups of espresso per day. Women with high blood pressure coffee is generally contraindicated.

Medications

The instructions for the drug always indicate whether it is contraindicated for pregnant women. Otherwise, it is better to consult a doctor once again. Prohibited during pregnancy are vasoconstrictor nasal drops, ambroxol, ambrobene, aspirin, a number of antibiotics, etc.

Medicinal herbs

Among a fairly large number of useful medicinal herbs, there are those that can provoke a miscarriage, and those that have a negative effect on the fetus. You can find out which herbs are contraindicated in our Encyclopedia.

weight lifting

During pregnancy, avoid lifting heavy objects (no more than 2 kg). Such a thoughtless movement can provoke a miscarriage. This is especially true with uterine hypertonicity.

X-ray and fluorography

With x-ray exposure, there is a risk of damage to the nervous system of the child. Therefore, this type of diagnosis is prohibited during pregnancy.

Active sports

Sports such as weightlifting, equestrianism, cycling and any other power and traumatic sports fall under a strict ban. It is recommended to give preference to swimming, walking in the fresh air, (yoga and Pilates).

Stress

It is always necessary to protect yourself from stressful situations, but especially during pregnancy. Therefore, if your work involves a busy schedule, frequent negotiations and active participation in large-scale projects, then consider how to avoid all this. The load at work should in no case be reflected either on your nerves or on the health of you and your baby.

Some Products

Do not eat raw or undercooked eggs. Eggs must be thoroughly cooked, whites and yolks must be firm. This prevents the risk of Salmonella infection. Do not drink raw (not pasteurized) milk, you can only one that has undergone thorough heat treatment or pasteurization. Raw or poorly cooked meat also forbidden to use during pregnancy. The same applies to sausages and minced meat. Should be avoided moldy cheeses. They may contain listeria, the bacteria that causes listeriosis. Even a mild form of this infectious disease during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage or severe illness in the newborn.

An important and crucial moment for every woman, so you need to know what not to do when pregnant. Take this matter as seriously as possible. It is necessary to behave correctly and observe certain norms so as not to harm the child and yourself. Find out exactly what these words mean.

What not to eat when pregnant

After conception, a woman becomes responsible not only for her health, but also for the future baby. Any wrong behavior of the mother can lead to negative consequences.

However, many women do not know what to believe and what to take at face value. What can and cannot be done during pregnancy? Where is clinically confirmed information, and where is fiction? Let's talk about this in more detail.

I, like my colleagues, recommend that women prepare for pregnancy even before conception. In particular, stop smoking, follow a healthy lifestyle, reduce the number of stressful situations, follow the right diet and emotionally set yourself up for the appearance of a healthy child in the family.

However, in reality, it is not always possible to follow such advice. In this case, you should change your life after you have shown a positive result.

Photo: Michman A. What is harmful for pregnant women. - M.: Self-improvement, 2013.

Almost every woman who carries a child goes through a process of changing taste preferences. I urge you to pay attention that even in such a situation there are certain products that are forbidden to be consumed. Here is what pregnant women should not eat:

  • Raw eggs, uncooked meat, fish and seafood. Unsterilized milk, moldy or raw milk cheeses.
  • Forest mushrooms, as they, like sponges, instantly absorb harmful substances from the environment (in particular, toxins).

Because of this, the expectant mother may be poisoned, and such a process will not pass without a trace for the child. If you are a crazy mushroom lover, then I recommend treating yourself to champignons from the store. Manufacturers grow them in greenhouses, so they are safe and environmentally friendly.

  • Cinnamon. Harmless at first glance, the spice can provoke uterine contractions and cause premature birth.
  • Rosemary. It increases the risk of bleeding.
  • Too fatty foods, as well as concentrated broths from meat and fish.

Such dishes excessively overload the liver and provoke weight gain. These processes also negatively affect the health of the pregnant woman and the unborn child.

  • Exotic types of fish, vegetables and fruits, as such products can trigger allergies.
  • Legumes, radishes and other foods that provoke gas formation. A similar process leads to the expansion of the lumen of the intestines and causes hypertonicity of the uterus.

Still wondering what foods are not suitable for pregnant women? Then remember that when carrying a child, the intake of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited. Additionally, I personally advise women to limit their intake of foods such as:

  • soda;
  • coffee drinks;
  • salted foods, as well as smoked meats;
  • cod liver and butter;
  • chocolate;
  • fried foods, fast food food.

Now you know what is forbidden for pregnant women from food in the first trimester of pregnancy and beyond. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, greens, protein and other foods that contain a lot of vitamins. Be sure to consult with your doctor about the desire to eat something unusual.

What not to do when pregnant for medical reasons

Some women categorically do not want to part with work until childbirth. However, this decision may have an impact on the course of pregnancy. Let's see what you can and cannot be pregnant.

Photo: Ivanova L.V. Pregnancy. Childbirth. First year of life. Questions and answers. - M.: Mom's school, 2007.

So, the main prohibitions for women carrying a child include work:

  • in positions that involve regular contact with hazardous components, such as arsenic, carbon monoxide, paint, etc.;
  • in organizations where women need to lift weights and bend over during pregnancy;
  • with radiation.

Additional temporary prohibitions that determine what is not allowed for pregnant women include work as a flight attendant and a diver. This is due to the fact that in such professions there is an increased risk of miscarriage. To prevent infection with toxoplasmosis, women are forbidden to work with animals, especially with wild ones.

In practice, I met cases when girls continued to perform tasks on ladders or scaffolding. From personal experience, I will say that during such work there is a shift in the center of gravity, due to which the chance of falling from a height increases. Being in position, a woman can refuse business trips, overtime, shift schedule, which involves working at night.

My colleagues and scientific experts say that before the birth of a child, you should not go to saunas or baths. Excessive overheating of the body puts a negative strain on the heart, which can affect not only the mother, but also the baby.

In what positions should pregnant women not sit? Let's look at this issue in more detail:

  1. Women in position should not lie on their back if the period is more than eight weeks. This is due to the fact that at this time the uterus increases and puts pressure on large vessels near the spine. If the mother lies on her back for a long time, the baby may feel oxygen starvation.
  2. Lying on your stomach is not worth it already from the second trimester. The most acceptable position for rest and sleep is lying on the right side.
  3. It is forbidden to get up abruptly, so as not to cause complications. A lying woman in a position should slowly turn on her side, tuck her legs under her, move her shoulders forward, lean on her elbow, move her lower limbs to the edge of the bed, and only then sit down.
  4. No need to make rotational movements of the lumbar and at the same time lean forward.
  5. How not to sit pregnant? It is forbidden to sit for a long time in one position, because as a result, blood circulation fails. The fetus begins hypoxia, and the pregnant woman may have problems with the veins.
  6. You should not cross your legs, because this position provokes squeezing of blood vessels, and pain in the back may also appear.
  7. It is forbidden to be inclined for a long time and stand in one place to prevent the development of varicose veins.
  8. Limit jogging, cycling, horseback riding, or motorcycle riding to avoid preterm labor.

In my work, I personally give practical advice to everyone on how to sit pregnant. If you have a sedentary job, take a break every 15-20 minutes and walk around a bit. It is confirmed that such actions will help prevent the development of hemorrhoids and improve blood transport. It is allowed to lean on the back of the chair for maximum comfort.

Signs for pregnant women: believe it or not

There are a lot of folklore on the presented topic. Some of them may seem stupid, others - quite adequate. I will try to explain the signs to pregnant women from an objective point of view:

  • What not to pregnant women: cut hair.

Many prohibitions apply to the appearance of the expectant mother. For example, I was a witness when my patient said that she did not cut her hair so that later the baby's hair would grow well.

There is no hard evidence to support such a claim. Women are allowed to take care of themselves and, if necessary, go to the hairdresser. Analyzing the available data, we can safely say that such a process will not affect the unborn child in any way. Doctors even allow you to dye your hair, but make sure that the master chooses the right dye for you.

  • Signs for pregnant women: you can not buy baby clothes.

Some women refuse to buy baby clothes until they give birth, as they consider it a bad omen. Then the relatives and the newly-made father are dumbfounded rushing to the shops to purchase the necessary items. I advise you to prepare for the appearance of the baby in advance, in order to avoid unnecessary trouble later.

  • What not to be pregnant: sit on the doorstep.

Folk signs say that pregnant women should not sit on the doorstep. Once upon a time, there was a belief among the people that the threshold is the line between the real world and the world of evil spirits and other evil spirits. It was believed that when a person was on the threshold, he was most weakened for the dirty tricks of the dark forces. I hope today you understand how implausible this statement is.

  • Signs for pregnant women: eat in secret from others.

The people forbid women to eat in secret, so that the baby is not born stupid. The source of this tale is unknown, just as the thought process of the creator of the sign is still incomprehensible to me. But I'll tell you the truth: eating quickly and not fully chewing food is harmful for both women and men.

I recommend you check out scientific article of my colleagues Aiyzhy E.V. and Chalbak A.V. entitled "Rites and customs associated with the pregnancy of a woman among the peoples of the Sayano-Altai (on the example of Tuvans and Khakasses)" for general development.

  • What can not be pregnant: look at the ugliness.

Another folk tale: in no case should a pregnant woman look at ugliness. From this, the baby may be born ugly.

Geneticists have proven that there is no direct connection here. But in the womb, the child receives information about the world from the woman herself - reacts to the musical compositions that the mother listens to, to the pictures she examines, etc. An emotional connection is formed between the mother and the unborn child, so any negative emotions of the mother immediately affect the state baby.

It turns out that some of the folk signs relating to pregnant women carry rational beliefs, and some of them are evidence of the illiteracy of our ancestors. Believe it or not these stories - it's up to you!

The main thing is that pregnancy brings the joy of waiting for a meeting with a baby! Take care of your health and take care of your child!

The expectant mother should carefully monitor her health, but at the same time, not give up the usual female joys. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly understand and know what is possible and what is not possible during pregnancy.

To begin with, remember that expecting a child is not a reason for a sharp change in the usual rhythm of life, of course, unless the doctor recommends otherwise. Unfortunately, there are times when pregnancy does not go very smoothly. Then you really have to be careful. Rarely, the entire period of gestation passes in full hospitalization with an increased risk of failure.

Perhaps questions related to contraception and ovulation for some time ceased to excite you and, oh, good news: you are pregnant! Pleasant sensations are replaced by worries and many questions: what can you eat, where can you relax, what vitamins to take, etc. In this part of the article, we will give answers to the most popular questions that concern expectant mothers, about

  • nutrition;
  • sports;
  • sex;
  • taking medication;
  • use of personal and public transport;
  • self-care;
  • bad habits.

Is it possible to swim, take a bath, soar legs, and what about water procedures in general?

Any doctor will say that water procedures are very useful, especially swimming in the pool. This gently tones the muscular system, reduces the load on the spine, allows it to rest. In addition, it has a positive effect on the nervous system, calms, promotes good sleep if you swim just before bedtime.

It is not recommended and even forbidden to bathe in hot water and soar your feet with a cold. A warm bath for a pedicure does not count. This is an important note, because a lot of women take the phrase "do not soar legs" too literally and are afraid to take care of their feet throughout their pregnancy. You can also soften the skin for care in water at room temperature.

With a favorable course of pregnancy in the early stages, you can afford a trip to the sea. However, sunbathing at lunchtime should be avoided. The next trip to the seas may not take place soon, so do not deny yourself the pleasure.

What medications can and cannot be given to a future mother?

Everything is much more complicated here. It is better for pregnant women not to get sick, because in principle they cannot use most drugs. We will not challenge the conclusions of modern doctors, but in practice it is almost impossible not to get sick even once in 9 months. Not only are there many viruses around that attack a woman’s weakened immunity, there are also chronic diseases that cannot be survived without pills, for example, migraine, pancreatitis, and various allergies.

How to bring down the high temperature in a pregnant woman? How to get rid of a terrible headache?

Surely you have noticed that all medications indicate that you can take during pregnancy if the expected benefit from the drug exceeds the acceptable risk? A temperature of 39-40 or a headache during the day is exactly the case. Feel free to use paracetamol, drugs based on ibuprofen, nimesulide. One or two doses can minimally affect the unborn child, which cannot be said about the high temperature and negative emotions that a woman experiences if she suffers pain. The same goes for antihistamines. If you are tormented by allergies, choose a regimen for taking allergy medications with your doctor and continue to enjoy life.

Is it true that pregnant women are actively gaining weight and it is necessary to restrain it by all means? Do pregnant women need a special diet?

Nutrition for a pregnant woman is a separate topic in any special book or article for pregnant women. No matter how trite it may sound, nutrition should be balanced and regular for this reason. Developing in the mother's womb, the child takes all the vitamins, nutrients, trace elements, acids, fats and other things he needs from his environment. If you think that by eating badly, you are harming the child in the first place, you are mistaken.

With a normal diet, first the nutrients are absorbed from the mother, and the “free” ones go to the child. If there are few nutrients in the mother's body, that is, enough for only one organism, they will all go to the child. If there are very few nutrients, then the child will receive nutrients from the mother's "reserves". It was then that horror stories begin to come true that pregnant women lose their hair and crumble their teeth, their skin becomes terrible, and in general, motherhood turns into a feat.

What does a baby look like at 26 weeks pregnant? What are the symptoms and signs of 26 weeks? Necessary medical examinations, observations and tests, read!

During pregnancy, it is necessary to more carefully monitor the cleanliness of your own body, but

Fortunately, we live in a civilized world where vitamin complexes for pregnant women and nursing mothers have long been developed, they are especially relevant for those whose pregnancy begins in winter and spring. In summer and autumn, fresh fruits, vegetables, sunlight are in abundance, so it is quite possible to do without additional preparations. No need to lean on sweets, pastries. These products really, apart from excess weight, will not add anything to your body. Outside of food, do not forget about regular walks in the fresh air. This is especially true of current business women who continue to work until the very birth. Pregnancy is the time to think about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Is it possible to carry out medical manipulations, for example, dental treatment?

As in the case of drugs, carious lesions of the teeth are many times more dangerous for the body of a pregnant woman than local anesthesia. Although an x-ray of the tooth is certainly contraindicated. Therefore, it is not only possible to treat teeth during pregnancy, but it is also very necessary. Of course, you should not say that if you are planning a child, then it is better to solve all these problems before conception. Separately, I would like to emphasize information about x-rays.

If during pregnancy you are persuaded to take an x-ray, do not compromise.

A special protective vest is put on the body, which minimally interferes with the exposure of the baby, so it’s better not to risk it. An experienced dentist is able, if necessary, to remove the nerve without the ill-fated image.

Can a pregnant woman do an ultrasound?

This question can be safely called one of the most frequent that all women in position ask, and the media is to blame for this. They vied with each other about the conducted scientific research, where it turned out that ultrasound disturbs the peace of the fetus in the most terrible way and can spoil his sight, hearing and other vital functions of the body. As an argument, the undeniable “before no one did it and the children were born normal” is given.

It may be that ultrasound really causes discomfort to a small person, but think about the fact that modern diagnostics can reveal many abnormalities in a child and even allow them to be corrected in utero. Without ultrasound, these children would be doomed. Therefore, there can be no unambiguous recommendations here! For the sake of idle interest, it is not worth going to an ultrasound examination, but it is necessary to go through the planned three to four times during the entire pregnancy for the health of your unborn baby and for your peace of mind.

Can a pregnant woman believe various signs and superstitions?

We all know that if you believe in something very strongly, it will definitely happen. The same applies to signs. If you cannot convince yourself that doing needlework (sewing, knitting, embroidery) is not a great way of self-realization and relaxation, but a bad omen, then it’s better not to do it. During pregnancy, all activities should bring only joy and peace of mind. Especially unfounded are the superstitions that a pregnant woman should not have a haircut and dye her hair. In the first case, there is a risk that the baby will be born with an entanglement of the umbilical cord, and in the second, the harmful components of the hair dye will penetrate into the bloodstream and damage the baby.

The only reason why pregnant women may be contraindicated in hair coloring is hormonal changes. It often becomes the reason that the paint may not take or have an unexpected color. Hair, body, nails (if desired, they can also be increased) must always be looked after, regardless of their condition.

Is it possible to fly in an airplane?

Officially, doctors do not recommend flying after 25 weeks of pregnancy. It is not worth the risk, only if the flight is an urgent need. There are women who flew on an airplane a week before giving birth and even gave birth, as they say, in heaven.

is it possible to play sports during pregnancy?

If before pregnancy you have been involved in any sport for a long time, then during it you should not give up your usual workouts. The exception is extreme, too active and potentially dangerous sports. These include running, skiing, surfing, wrestling, and the like. Reduced-impact fitness and aerobics, Pilates, yoga, even dancing (but not until you drop) will all be very beneficial for mother and child.

Is it possible or not to exercise during pregnancy?

Not only possible, but also necessary, if there are no contraindications to the doctor. It’s not worth it, having learned that you will soon become a mother, take on all sports at once (you will only overload your body, which is now working at the limit of its capabilities). The most useful during pregnancy are yoga, Pilates, stretching, hiking, swimming. By the way, many sports clubs offer many programs designed specifically for pregnant women (the same yoga, water aerobics, etc.). If you went in for sports before pregnancy, then now you don’t need to stop training, it’s enough to switch to a more gentle mode. During pregnancy, it is categorically not recommended to engage in sports in which there is a possibility of falling or getting hit in the stomach: running, rollerblading and skating, equestrian sports, all types of wrestling, basketball and volleyball, extreme sports.

Is it possible to be capricious and demanding?

A scientifically proven fact - in pregnant women, memory, logic, coordination of movements decrease, sensitivity, irritability, exactingness increase. All of this is biologically based. By nature, it is conceived that during the bearing of a child, a woman should only prepare for the appearance of offspring. The acquired skills fade into the background, the basic instincts come to the fore.

Therefore, 90% of pregnant women constantly want to sleep, experience an acute feeling of hunger, which can even raise to the refrigerator in the middle of the night, and have strange taste preferences. If you are already an accomplished mother, you are reading these lines and you are sure that this did not affect you and that you were a normal pregnant woman, ask your close friends to honestly confess everything to you. Most likely, they will tell you that you were simply unbearable. And they had a right to it.

The main task of a pregnant woman is to take care of herself and the child, so she can be forgiven for excessive egocentrism, sluggishness, laziness, and everything else. After childbirth, the hormonal balance will gradually be restored and the former wife or girlfriend will become herself again.

So what can and cannot be done during pregnancy?

You can exactly:

  • enjoy life;
  • do something that has not been done before, but now brings pleasure;
  • walk, breathe in the air;
  • listen to beautiful music, admire beautiful people, paintings, landscapes;
  • do not be nervous and do not expose yourself to situations where you will definitely have to worry;
  • do not deny yourself the pleasure of buying a dowry for a child, no superstitions;

First of all, it is practical and convenient. After giving birth, you will not have time for shopping, but you don’t want to entrust this mission to anyone;

  • think only about the good, about a healthy child, quick and easy childbirth and in every possible way tune in to the positive;
  • read and listen to scary stories about children and childbirth with a bad ending;
  • get upset over trifles;
  • quarrel and swear with loved ones;
  • stop caring about your own appearance;

Now you know that pregnancy is truly a unique life moment. Let it be overshadowed by excess weight, changes in shape, toxicosis and other "charms", but this makes it no less touching and beautiful. Only during pregnancy can you experience the closeness of the most real miracle on earth. Now, after you know what is possible and what is not during pregnancy, feel free to enjoy the creation of a new miracle, your blood, a new family member.

What foods can you eat during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, it is important to eat right, to maintain a balance between the main substances necessary for the normal development of the fetus. Every day, a pregnant woman needs to receive carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and trace elements in the correct ratio. Among the products recommended for consumption:

  • dairy products;
  • cottage cheese;
  • green and yellow vegetables and fruits;
  • lean meat;
  • sea fish;
  • dried fruits;
  • eggs;
  • whole wheat bread;
  • cereals.
  • highly allergenic foods (eg shrimp, oranges, strawberries);
  • products that have not undergone heat treatment (meat, sushi, dried fish);
  • moldy cheeses;
  • chocolate;
  • fast food.

Naturally, if during pregnancy you feel that you really, really want pickles, or bananas, or apricots, or some other food that is not usual for you, then you should treat yourself (grandmother’s wisdom: “if you really want something , but you can’t, then you can), but do not get carried away and do not overeat.

Is it possible or not to have sex during pregnancy?

This question worries many. The answer to it is in the affirmative: it is possible and necessary, if there are no contraindications to this from the doctor. It is better to consult a gynecologist about this, if everything is in order, then you can not deny yourself this pleasure until the very birth. Restrictions on having sex during pregnancy:

  • bleeding in the early stages;
  • previous preterm birth;
  • late pregnancy, when the stomach begins to interfere and there is a possibility of premature birth.

Although the last statement is debatable, since many doctors, on the contrary, recommend making love before childbirth to gently stimulate the body to labor.

If there is no threat of termination of pregnancy, sex is even useful. It gently stimulates the muscles of the uterus, preparing them for childbirth. And of course, it improves mood and emotional background, which in pregnant women is often in an unstable state.

Can or can't I fly a plane/ride a train/drive a car while pregnant?

It is unlikely that, having become pregnant, you will spend all 9 months sitting at home or moving only on foot. Before going on maternity leave, you will at least need to go to work, which means using public or private transport. There are no special prohibitions here, just try to be more careful, especially if you are driving yourself. In the later stages of pregnancy, women often refuse to drive themselves, as the stomach begins to interfere, and you want to avoid stressful situations that often occur on the road.

Regarding the issue of traveling long distances - by train or plane - there are also no special prohibitions. In this case, the decision "possible or impossible" depends only on your well-being and the convenience of the vehicle. On the train, you can always change or buy a special ticket in a compartment and/or a lower seat. On the plane, you can also ask for an emergency exit seat, where it will be more convenient for you to stretch your legs. The only “but”: some airlines do not take on board women in late pregnancy (from 36 weeks), therefore, in order to avoid an unpleasant situation at the airport, ask your air carrier about the rules of transportation in advance.

Can I take medication during pregnancy or not?

It is better to stop taking all unnecessary medications during this period. Among the mandatory during pregnancy, perhaps, there are vitamins specially designed for pregnant women (Elevit, Vitrum Prenatal, etc.). If you get sick while in position, be sure to consult a doctor before taking certain drugs so as not to risk pregnancy and the health of the unborn baby. It is also recommended that you carefully read the instructions for the use of drugs, especially the contraindications section. Do not forget the potential dangers of the so-called alternative methods of treatment (many of them are also contraindicated in pregnancy).

What self-care procedures can pregnant women undergo?

Among the permitted and even approved by doctors, as uplifting, procedures for the care of the face and body during pregnancy:

  • haircut and hair styling;
  • hair coloring or tinting (provided that the master is aware of your situation and will use the least toxic materials);
  • pedicure (especially in the later stages, when it becomes difficult to bend down);
  • manicure (preferably without painting).

During pregnancy, it is not recommended to go to the bath or sauna, because. you may become ill, and in the early stages, an increase in temperature is completely harmful to the fetus. Also, do not do facial cleansing, spa treatments and body wraps, perms, piercings. A special taboo on the procedures of visiting the solarium and tattoos.

Bad habits during pregnancy, what is possible and what is not?

The use of alcohol, not to mention narcotic substances, is strictly contraindicated during pregnancy, as it leads to fetal defects, pregnancy complications, up to miscarriage. Of course, we are not talking about those cases when you take a sip of wine to feel its taste, but no more. Smoking during pregnancy is also contraindicated due to the likelihood of having a small child, complicated childbirth, and problems with the respiratory system in the baby in the future. However, some doctors are of the opinion that abrupt smoking cessation is stressful for the body, which is not recommended during pregnancy. In such cases, it is advisable to reduce the number of cigarettes smoked as much as possible.
