How to squeeze pomegranate juice? How to squeeze juice from pomegranates at home? Pomegranate presses Pomegranate juice home cooking

Pomegranate is a very healthy and tasty fruit. The etymology of its name directly indicates that it consists of many grains, its granular structure. This fruit is round, the skin has a red, almost crimson color, and inside this exotic fruit there are small grains of the same red color, which are surrounded by pulp, juicy but slightly sour. Even in ancient times, the elements of this fruit: juice, bones and peel - were used for various kinds of cosmetic procedures. Moreover, it is very useful. It contains a large variety of vitamins and nutrients that are responsible for immunity and the level of hemoglobin in human blood, and not only.

The only thing is that there are small seeds in the pomegranate kernels, some people do not like to use it in its pure form, like an apple or an orange, for example. Cleaning the grenade is also problematic. It is very dreary, inconvenient and messy to do this because the juice from the grains is sprinkled all over the place. But you can't completely refuse so much healthy and tasty fruit, so most people use pomegranate juice, and not the pomegranate itself. Pomegranate juice also contains all the beneficial substances, and it is much more convenient and pleasant to use it.

Of course, people buy pomegranate juice in stores most often, which doctors do not recommend, because the juices from the store are full of preservatives, and most often they are very diluted with water. And this makes it clear to us that store juice is not as useful as homemade juice. Therefore, it is necessary to make pomegranate juice, like any other, at home, and close it in jars for the winter, in order to then saturate your body with vitamins.

First you need to figure out how to squeeze juice from pomegranate kernels. By the way, before you start squeezing the juice, you need to wash the fruits well and dry them so that they are not wet or damp on the outside.

Firstly, you can make pomegranate juice at home using the old "old-fashioned" method, which does not require any special tools. For this method, you will need the simplest items that are available in every home - a knife, fine gauze, a deep container, a rolling pin and rubber gloves. First you need to cut the pomegranate into two equal parts. Then you need to take one half of this fruit, place it over the container with the grains down and lightly tap on it, on the skin, with a rolling pin. You will see that the grains will begin to fall into the bowl, and you will understand for yourself how hard you need to beat. Of course, this should be done until all the pomegranate seeds are in the bowl. The same should be done with the second half. Then you need to pour all the nucleoli to a single one into fine gauze and start squeezing the juice with your gloved hands, of course. It's very easy and simple. But if a woman is engaged in this, then she may not have enough strength. In this case, you can ask the man in the house to do this business.

Secondly, another easy way. It only needs two tools: a knife and a glass. Everything is extremely easy: you need to roll a clean pomegranate by pressing on it on the table until it becomes completely soft. After that, a small hole is made in the soft pomegranate, and with this hole the pomegranates are placed on the glass. The concentrated juice will drain off by itself, though not so quickly.

Pomegranate juice is a tart drink with many beneficial properties. It contains many vitamins, trace elements and antioxidants. However, only high-quality freshly squeezed pomegranate juice will bring the desired effect, while store products often do not meet these requirements. If you want not only to enjoy this drink, but also to improve your health, try making pomegranate juice yourself.

You don't have to buy expensive equipment to pamper yourself with tasty and healthy pomegranate juice. You can also prepare a delicious drink with the help of improvised means. A regular citrus juicer is perfect for this, or, even better, a juicer with a press. Cut the previously washed pomegranate into two halves, place the fruit against the cone and press down. The only drawback of the resulting drink will be a slight bitterness, but if you prefer to drink pomegranate juice with sugar or honey, it will not be felt.

If you are physically fit, you can squeeze the juice out of the pomegranate by hand. Wash the fruit, and then remember it well in your hands to give it a soft consistency. To quickly get the long-awaited drink, the fruit can be rolled on the table by pressing firmly on it. After that, make a small hole in the pomegranate and drain the resulting drink through it. This method is most often used in southern villages, where pomegranates grow. Without resorting to improvised means, locals quench their thirst with this healthy tart drink.

Take a pomegranate fruit, rinse it and cut it in half. Wrap each half with cheesecloth, put a wide dish and start squeezing the halves of the pomegranate, like lemons. Pretty soon you will have enough pomegranate juice.

If you want to get pure pomegranate juice without impurities and bitterness, use the manual method of squeezing. Take the fruit, rinse it under cool water and cut off the top. When using a sharp knife, make several cuts in the skin of the fruit and dip it in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes. After that, the pomegranate can simply be broken: the grains will easily separate. Place the harvested grains in a tight plastic bag and beat them thoroughly with a hammer. Punch a small hole in the bag and drain the juice. The drink is ready to drink, but you can make it cleaner if you like. Place the container of pomegranate juice in the refrigerator for a day or two. After this time, you will see that the sediment remains at the bottom of the dishes, and on top you have a delicious translucent drink.

How to peel pomegranate and squeeze pomegranate juice?

I remembered something and I missed the Istanbul impressions again ...

And since one of my brightest taste discoveries in Istanbul is fresh pomegranate juice, for the first time I was puzzled by the question of how to squeeze pomegranate juice in my kitchen. That is, without the presence of a special press, with which Istanbul sellers of fresh juices are so cleverly managed 🙂

And, at the same time, the question of how to peel the pomegranate, while not using the juice on all the surfaces of my own kitchen, arose.

And since I had absolutely no idea how to do it all, I had to conduct my own research. As usual, I share the results with you.

How to peel a pomegranate

As it turned out, not only I do not know how to clean the pomegranate neatly and quickly. And precisely because of this, many of us are depriving ourselves of the mega-benefits that are contained in pomegranates. So, I hope my experience will be useful to you.

To begin with, choose two ripe and beautiful pomegranates to try both methods that I suggest and choose the best for yourself!

METHOD # 1 GENTLE

We carefully cut off the "crown" and the lower part of the pomegranate, being careful not to damage the grain:

We cut the skin, dividing the pomegranate into slices, but do not cut the skin to the grains:

We carefully break the pomegranate with our hands - as you can see, all the grains are whole. No splashes. Everything is very fast and clean:

Carefully select all the pomegranate seeds in a bowl:

METHOD # 2 FAST

Cut the pomegranate into two halves:

Turn half of the pomegranate cut down over a deep bowl and knock out the grains with a knife handle or kitchen hammer:

It turns out faster than in the previous method. But from the bowl you still need to choose pomegranate crusts and the seeds remaining in the pomegranate half. In addition, some of the grains will be damaged:

How to juice a pomegranate

METHOD # 1 INCREDIBLE

According to this technology, you need to forcefully roll a whole pomegranate on the table, and then make a hole in the peel and squeeze out the juice with your hands.

I did not risk it - my delicate hands are not adapted to such a rough effect on objects of the outside world. But when I meet my Hercules, I will definitely ask him to please me with such a show!

METHOD # 2 INEconomic

This method assumes that you need to take half a pomegranate and squeeze it on a citrus juicer:

Well, I don’t know ... Or is this another way for my beautiful Hercules, or I don’t understand something:

Very little juice is obtained, grains remain in half of the pomegranate and, in general, the process is quite laborious.

METHOD # 3 LOGICAL

At first, I just wanted to squeeze the juice in my centrifugal juicer. But then I thought that pomegranate juice, after all, is a rather tart drink and - the very thing - drink it diluted with water. Therefore, I decided to load a cup of beans into a blender, add water:

And grind for 30 seconds:

Then, I strained the mass through cheesecloth. Squeezed out:

And the result is an incredibly tasty, refreshingly pleasant and fabulously beautiful drink! Mmm.

METHOD # 4 MIXED-DELICIOUS

After enjoying my pomegranate drink from the blender, I decided, nevertheless, to collect the juicer and try the mixed juice. Took apples, celery and leftover pomegranate seeds:

And one more important point! Never discard pomegranate crusts, partitions, and pomegranate pomace. While the crusts are fresh, cut them into small pieces and leave to dry, along with the blender pomace. Then pour into a jar and use as needed.

How to use pomegranate peels

You can use pomegranate peels as a medicinal infusion - there are many recipes and ways to use this or that degree of weirdness on the Internet. But I prefer to add dried crusts to a variety of herbal teas and make wonderful healthy drinks.

Here are some examples of similar recipes and fees:

How to juice a pomegranate

Back to the list of articles

The University of California - Los Angeles - identified pomegranate juice as "the healthiest juice in the world." Pomegranate juice is packed with antioxidants and nutrients. The juice is considered good for your heart, brain, teeth, lungs, and bones. Pomegranate juice also has an anti-cancer effect. With all of these health benefits, pomegranate juice is a great addition to any diet. Fresh is always better, so why not make your own pomegranate juice at home? Many do not even know which side to approach this task, but do not worry, everything is not so difficult.

Difficulty: moderately easy.

You will need: a plastic apron (it is easy to build it from plastic bags from a supermarket); plastic bags from the supermarket; the guarantors themselves - you don't need much, their seeds, in fact, consist almost only of juice; a large glass or (better) a plastic / glass bowl; plastic filter / sieve; electric blender; two pieces of clean cheesecloth or mesh; clean hands; glass or plastic / glass container.

1. Put on a wide plastic apron (the fabric one you will be tortured to wash later) to protect your clothes from the pomegranate juice. It's better to choose not the best clothes either. Stains from pomegranate juice are difficult to remove, especially from delicate fabrics.

2. Cover the work surface with plastic bags from the supermarket, remove all excess around so that stains from the juice do not fall on the surrounding objects and surfaces - it eats into them, and it is almost impossible to wipe off pomegranate juice from some.

3. Take a knife and cut the pomegranate into quarters. One pomegranate will make 1/3 to 1/2 glass of juice.

4. Hold the chopped pomegranate over a large glass or plastic bowl (just choose a separate bowl for the pomegranate juice - the paint from the juice can stick into the plastic walls forever) and gently use your fingers to remove the seeds, letting them fall freely into the bowl. You just take a glass or a plastic bowl, because the metal utensils will change the color of the pomegranate juice. Another way to get the grains out is to dip the pomegranate wedges in a bowl of water. The water will release the seeds, or help you with this. Then the contents of the bowl - the water with the seeds - are poured through a plastic sieve to get rid of the water. Note: the method with water makes the release of the seeds much easier and faster, but you will lose some of the pomegranate juice in the water. It is very desirable to remove all white films from seeds.

5. Process the pomegranate seeds in an electric blender - until most of them burst.

6. Fold two pieces of clean cheesecloth (or cheese net; or simply fold a long piece in half), one exactly on top of the other. Pour the gruel formed in the blender strictly through the center of this makeshift filter, placed on top of the mug and fixed to it. Then, gather the edges of the gauze on top to make a pouch. Hold the pouch over a glass or bowl and squeeze out the contents so that the pomegranate juice drains completely into the bowl. It is not recommended to do it with the whole handful - with your hand - it is not recommended to do it with your fingers, otherwise the juice may splash to the sides, and all the trickles and drops then from the hand into one place will not be easy to direct and collect. The hard part of the seeds and fiber will remain in the gauze - but do not press hard, otherwise squeeze them out. Continue pressing until the juice comes out in sparse drops.

7. Mix pomegranate juice with apple or grape juice, or any other juice - if desired, as from habit, pomegranate juice may seem too pungent, bitter and generally unpalatable. With other juices, pomegranate can become softer and more appetizing.

8. Store pomegranate juice in a glass or plastic container with a tight lid.

The color of freshly squeezed pomegranate juice will be different from the long-lasting color you can get in the store, and this is not surprising: raw and natural juice has a more natural color.

Pomegranate juice: what is useful and how to make it at home?

If you have been on the market lately, you have probably noticed alluring bright red pomegranates on the shelves. It is not always convenient to eat them in their original form, especially for children. It is much easier to drink a glass of freshly squeezed juice. Believe me, tart and rich taste is not its only advantage. It retains all the vitamins and amino acids necessary for the body, as well as organic acids that maintain normal cholesterol levels and the successful functioning of the circulatory system. Preparing it in your own kitchen is not as difficult as it seems. And even making repairs after that is not at all necessary. But first things first.

Why is pomegranate juice useful?

Drinking pomegranate juice has a beneficial effect on digestion and improves blood circulation. It acts on the body as a natural antidepressant. Regular consumption reduces swelling, helps heal wounds and cuts, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and strengthens the immune system. This juice is very beneficial for the skin and hair. It also helps prevent certain types of cancer.

Pomegranate juice: increases blood pressure or lowers?

Pomegranate juice is indispensable for hypertension and heart disease. It lowers blood pressure and has a diuretic effect. At the same time, potassium is not washed out of the body, as under the influence of medications.

How to make pomegranate juice at home

Do not confuse freshly squeezed pomegranate juice with juice sold in stores. Often, when preservatives are added or when heat treated to increase shelf life, the juice loses its beneficial properties. Needless to say about the various flavor enhancers that manufacturers use? Therefore, it is better to make juice at home, especially since it is quite simple.

First you need to select ripe pomegranates and wash them. If you only have a citrus juicer at home, you can use it. Take a pomegranate, cut in a circle and break the fruit into 2 halves. Then attach each to the cone and press on it. It is best to do this in a sink to prevent splatter from scattering. This method is the fastest, but at the same time a lot of impurities get into the juice. Your mug may contain partitions containing tannin and the taste will be bitter because of this. Just add some sugar or honey.

The second method is more labor-intensive, but clean and effective. To do this, you need a centrifugal juicer, as well as time to remove all the seeds from the pomegranate. Make a few cuts and place the fruit in a bowl of cool water for a few minutes. This will allow you to easily break the pomegranate and pull the grains out of it. Detailed instructions can be found here. Pour the resulting grains into a juicer and turn it on. That's all, our juice is ready.

With a mechanical method of obtaining juice, it is better to pass the resulting liquid through cheesecloth or a sieve in order to avoid the ingress of various impurities (seeds, peel, partitions, etc.).

How to juice a pomegranate without a juicer

Due to the fact that the pomegranate seeds are very juicy, juice can be obtained from them without a juicer. I would single out two ways: for gentle girls and for strong men.

For girls, I suggest using a familiar blender. To begin with, you will again have to free the grains from the peel. Then we pour them into a blender, turn on and grind until puree. Be sure to close the blender with a lid. Put the resulting puree in a fine mesh sieve and let the juice drain, stirring occasionally with a spatula. Everything will be ready in a couple of minutes.

Strong men can go the easier way. Mash the pomegranate well with your hands. Just be careful not to damage the peel, otherwise you will have to wash the entire kitchen from the pomegranate juice, as well as wash your clothes. To make it easier for yourself, you can roll the grenade on a table or other hard surface, while pressing it firmly. The more beans you crush, the more juice you get. After all these manipulations, carefully cut off the "crown" of the pomegranate or make a small hole and drain the drink.

How to get pomegranate juice off your clothes

Spilled pomegranate juice on your favorite sweater or dress? Don't waste your time. The longer the juice is on your clothes, the more difficult it is to remove the stain.

  • If you notice a problem right away, quickly put the kettle on and then pour boiling water over the stain. When it disappears, just wash your clothes. This method works with almost all fruit and berry juices, but not all fabrics.

Pomegranate juice: preparation, storage and secrets of taste

Pomegranate is one of the healthiest and most valuable fruits. What is not contained in it: it is a storehouse of vitamins and microelements! Pomegranate juice is especially useful. For the first time, inhabitants of Central Asia began to use it. There a legend was born that this fruit is able to replace the blood of wounded soldiers in the battlefield, and only pomegranate juice is able to restore strength after a serious illness. Modern housewives can pamper their households with this dish at any time. Freshly made juice is ideal. You can do it yourself.

How to squeeze pomegranate juice without a juicer

It is more convenient to prepare any juice using electrical appliances, for example, a juicer. But not pomegranate. You can cook it yourself.

Juicing is not difficult.

  1. Take grenades. Wrap with food grade cellophane (to avoid splashing).
  2. Knock on them from all sides with a hammer. After this procedure, the row of the top grains will become soft.
  3. Next, carefully mash each fruit with your hands (they do everything carefully so that the peel does not burst).
  4. Make two or three holes with a sharp knife (not far from each other).
  5. Survive the juice holes over the container.

The juice is ready, it will take just a few minutes to prepare. This method does not require a grenade press. Some can be consumed immediately, and if there is a lot of juice, then it should be borne in mind that it is kept fresh for no more than a day.

How to store pomegranate and pomegranate juice at home

Pomegranates ripen in late autumn. If there is an opportunity to purchase good, strong ripe fruits, then they can be preserved until summer. There are basic rules of home storage that you need to adhere to.

  1. Choose ripe, strong pomegranates without scratches or damage.
  2. The temperature in the storage area should be between + 1 and +10 degrees Celsius. This can be a cellar, basement, refrigerator.
  3. The humidity should be moderate so that the fruit does not dry out and rot.
  4. Wrap each pomegranate with tissue paper.
  5. Put everything in low boxes.
  6. Cover with opaque material.

In this state, the fruit can be stored for two to three months.

There is another storage method:

  1. mix a "chatterbox" from clay and water (it should resemble liquid sour cream in consistency);
  2. dip each fruit in the solution;
  3. dry a little;
  4. put on shelves;
  5. cover with a cloth.

In a dry room, pomegranates are stored for six months. Unripe fruits are suitable for this method. On the shelf in the "chatterbox" they will ripen.

It is undesirable to store freshly squeezed juice for a long time. It's better to drink it right away. But if there is a lot of it, then there is a way:

  1. Sterilize glass jars or bottles.
  2. Bring the juice to a boil.
  3. Pour into jars.
  4. Close the lid.
  5. Put in a water bath.
  6. Warm up for about ten to fifteen minutes.
  7. Roll up the lids.
  8. Flip up.
  9. Leave overnight, cover with warm material (a downy shawl will do).

In the morning, the juice is ready for wintering.
